I see Colorado left its impact on Jason. This is 100% normal out here! Heck if anything this is normal hot tubbing to me.
Glenwood Springs, CO even has the largest hot springs in the world. Think of it as hot tub larger than an olympic size swimming pool. Open year round, totally normal thing to do while it is snowing out here.
Really you all should try it.... few things are as pretty as snow falling in a hot tub. Plus seeing the steam come off your body.
Really you are missing out... follow Jason's lead. Yes you have to walk barefoot in the snow... it is part of the experience!

Hopefully falling on your butt on the steps is not part of the experience. I hope he had a good hot tub soak!

I’ve been in a lot of hot tubs in winter with snow falling but I’ve never had to climb down snowy icy steps to get to them. More to the point, I’m not trying for a spot on the Olympic team.

I am probably the least fancy person I know.
But I have also broken my wrist, to the extent I needed surgery, just falling on level ground,.Risking injury by heading down steps full of snow? With icy bits who knows where? I don't care if the Hope Diamonds are in the yard, let alone a hot tub. And I am not an elite athlete trying to keep my body in tip-top shape and injury free.

I don't know... i have this strange permanent association of ice and hot tubs in my mind. You and your "salt" sounds fancy to me.
I do get the injury part. And truth be told i pretty much cling to railings even indoors on stairs. So i guess i am just more prepared for ice. That and i just grew up accepting the damn stuff.
If Jason were hurt he would not post it. I think this was just him in auto pilot mode. He likely is used to those stairs at this point and did not even think about them or the fall.

Speaking of safety, I decided not to attend Nationals. I am so sad about it, but I felt that it's not a safe situation given the rapid spread of omicron. It required 4 different planes and Newark Airport. Hoping to see Jason with SOI this spring. I hope that they can keep the skaters safe in Nashville. They apparently have no bubble in place. That's scary.

Thanks! It was both a tough decision and a no brainer. I was just procrastinating hoping that things would change, but I knew they wouldn't. I'll be glued to the computer on Peacock. My competition buddy had already decided that she wasn't going a week ago. The stress was just too high. I'll visit my grandkids in the spring when things calm down. And I hope that I can get decent tickets to either Hershey or Allentown, preferably Allentown. I have a friend to stay with overnight there. There isn't a lot of point planning ahead these days.I am so sorry @Bookseller I know how much you wanted to see Jason again.

The Pfizer COVID pill was just approved, so come spring I am definitely going to SOI Boston, Providence, or Hartford, wherever I can get the best seats
I gifted everyone with the article, so you can all view it.
It will probably be too hard to get if you catch COVID at Nationals, but all that should be straightened out by April and SOI.

Yet another US junior man with excellent taste. (which is what is relevant here in the Jason FF ) Taira Shinohara on Jason:
It was also during lockdown that Shinohara got to pick the brain of one of his skating idols, Jason Brown, over Zoom. Although still a competitive skater himself and vying for a spot on the 2022 U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team, Brown is already sharing his wisdom with the next generation of skaters.
"I really admire him for being a skater who always works towards his goal. He is not a skater who got quads right away, but he stuck to skating. All his other skills, his performance and his triples got more consistent, so I was able to learn that even though skating can be frustrating and you may feel like quitting, I have to continue in order to achieve anything."

I think Jason, the adult, viewed this Olympic Quad as a natural end to his competitive career, particularly if he made the team. But Jason, the competitor is feeling the loss of the open competition, with fans, and stuffies and mostly importantly, his family and all the really positive fun stuff and maybe wants to go on long enough to get back to where he wants to be. It won't be about the quad anymore. It will be about the performance, connecting with the fans and skating for the joy of it. And if he does, my guess is that he'll be better than ever. But it's a lot of work, time and dedication. There will be many factors. He should put that out of his mind and just skate to get to the Olympics and then skate the very best that he can at the Olympics. He has time to figure this out. Now is not the time.

Taira Shinohara also received in-person "teaching" from Jason in Illinois in April 2021, as previously discussed in this thread.
Not clear whether Taira meant a formal lesson or something more casual.
In any case, Taira was thankful for the opportunity, and the photo of them on ice together was very nice.
