There is no obvious choice regarding the Team competition, only obvious thing is that Kamila will be in the selection, doing only 1 program if they want to take care of her and not run her into the ground before the actual singles competition, both programs if they wanna be closer to their Team Gold and don't care much about any of their 3 girls.
If they only have her skate 1 I really don't know which they will decide on. Logical choice should be the SP since the other two have no 3A to offer there. On the other hand Sasha's FS is completely unreliable and while Anna used to be a safe bet, if she does not drastically improve over the next weeks and can't even land one quad...maybe indeed better Sasha?
I think they'll reassess after Euros.
EDIT: Also, who knows what kind of political maneuvers will be going on in the other 3 disciplines. And where they will want to use both options or only one for both programs. Just a provocative little example, now that Diana is going, clearly Eteri would like to have her on that Team, that's a guaranteed Olympic medal, possibly gold. We're gonna leave it at that but mark my words. I don't follow pairs or men so idk what politicking is going on there or not but I'm just saying, maybe the Ladies' picks will be more influenced by those kind of things than by their actual scoring potentials and performance
I doubt that .. russfed maybe didn't lear with Yulia but I bet that Eteri did .. probably kamila + anaI suspect that RusFed will go all in with Kamila and use her in both segments in the Team Event. That is good for Sasha and Anna who can focus on the main event.
Who knows with the Russian fed. Given that they originally had Muravieva as an alternate for Euros before realizing she‘s too young (lol - puts perspective on the whole time deduction debacle and why they were so keen to knock her down a bit, though), I would expect some kind of chaos with them. It would make most sense after EC, yes, especially since Semenenko‘s spot on the team is also still in doubt. I don‘t think Anna has anything to worry over in terms of Olympic selection. Liza and Maiia, her closest competitors, were put in 7th and 8th while she was put in 3rd by the judges. So they clearly want her there and she has the international reputation to back it up. The biggest question will only be whether she gets the guaranteed OGM in the team event or not.So when do they officially announce the team? After euros?
that's what they said at the press conference. But journalists believe that all three participants in the Olympics have already been selected, and representatives of the federation are in no hurry to refute this.So when do they officially announce the team? After euros?
I have the same question ... I don't think K/S can survive four programs ...S\K should do both ice dance parts to maximaze the points as only they can beat Americans. The question is can they survive it?
For the women, that‘s understandable. But the men? Can‘t believe they wouldn‘t sub in Mozalev if Sememenko underperforms at Euros… that would be very strange indeed, even discounting that Semenenko‘s coach is Mishin.that's what they said at the press conference. For the women there is not really any competition at Euros maybe except for Hendickx. For the women, that‘s understandable. But the men? OMG!!!! Is this serious????Given that they originally had Muravieva as an alternate for Euros before realizing she‘s too young (lol - puts perspective on the whole time deduction debacle and why they were so keen to knock her down a bit, though), I would expect some kind of chaos with them.
OMG!!!! Is this serious????
I'm cracking up and shaking my head at the same time lol. Did they spot her and think "YOU!!! You are useful to us but we can't let you be in second place so we need to take a point off!" and then "Put that really good kid in as an alternate! Got potential" before finally realising "Crap! Kid is too young! Take her off the list! OFF!!!"
I hope Sofia M is aware of this! Would be a nice confidence booster! They know she's good!
It's a shame they can't send Kamila or Sasha to do men's competitionLooking at the schedule for Olympics
Days of rest between Team Event and Individual Event:
Men 2 days (!!)
Dance 5 days
Women 8 days
Pairs 11 days
This means they really can't use the same man for both Team events, that poor guy will be totally drained.
Same goes for Dance I guess.
Women and Pairs...hmmm, it might work to have someone doing both segments in the Team event.
I mean, from all the disciplines, any Russian man who will compete is the last one deserving that team gold medal, not to say there is a high possibility there will be two of them
Anna will mostly be competing against herself at Euros. For the women there is not really any competition at Euros maybe except for Hendickx.
That's what I'm wondering too. Is Anna's spot on the olympic team a sure thing? Of course they chose the podium girls to go to the Europeans because they earned it (at least officially) and because they want to go, but as I understood, only Kamila and Sasha are a lock for now.If Anna has another poor skate at Euros, are we really sure they will send her to Beijing?...
I love Mozalev with a barely containable passion, but 6th place finish in the worlds would make me more ecstatic than the entire population of greater Tokyo whenever Yuzuru blows his nose. But at that rate, he won’t see worlds, particularly if Samsonov recovers for next season. For the women there is not really any competition at Euros maybe except for Hendickx.
But for the men, Euros will be tough. Mozalev has a much bigger potential and can even medal at the Olympics if he's on. Semenenko might be more reliable but the international judges always score him down in PCS, and to get into the top 5 at the Olympics for him is Mishin Impossible.
Your last post in The Russian Ladies? Nyet to that. You should still Post in the competition threads and The Fan Fests. Seriously don't leave on a bad note. But you can't let this stuff Eat You Alive either. It is that the Fed has determined their winners in advance and Anna knows that every single jump could be a quad and they would invent an 11 PCS just for Kamila to compensate. Why bother trying when there is so much institutional power behind a skater that you can never win even if you do everything right and they do everything wrong? Kamila knew when they gave her that 90 she was going to win no matter what she did and that took every ounce of nerves away from her and Anna knew when they gave Kamila that 90 that she was never going to win no matter what. So why bother?
Anyways, this is my last post on the forum and yes you can all cheer and say bye b*tch but honestly I don't care. I'll give you a massive goodbye Jontor, and you too florin because I know you two just adore Eteri and Kamila and I'm totally your fave poster here and it's totally not the USSR era where you'd get your legs broken for saying something bad about either but you treat them as such saints we might as well think it is! Eteri saying that Aliona not going against the advisement of her doctors to compete (because it would cause permanent nerve damage, and affect Aliona's motor skills in her dominant hand for her entire life effectively classifying her as someone with a disability) was a "missed opportunity" for her at RusNats, combined with her comments about Zhenya's weight (1kg additional is fine to skate with if it's a cast, but not if you're already severely underweight!) and the insanity of judging around Kamila and the insanity of selective edge calls and the insanity of giving +5 GOE and 10 PCS across the board to someone with severe technical flaws because Puma and Ozon money can buy a lot of judges is making me never want to watch another competition ever again. This season has been literally everything wrong with figure skating.
You all have fun stanning an abusive QWEEN coach (YASSSS) and getting upset when people don't like seeing children mistreated and emotionally manipulated by a blatantly corrupt judging system skewed by elite political power from both the Russian Federation and the ISU. I'm so glad Eteri did that interview and decided to nitpick over one single point in the short program because now we know who she really is and who the Fed really cares about. Also a big congrats to DIANA DAVIS for somehow winning 2nd place at her own nationals with the most junior skating possible I'm sure Eteri had nothing to do with her sudden change of fortune with the Russian judges!!!
Why doesn't figure skating have any fans? This. This is why.
Anna will probably go as long as she's on the podium and I can't see her losing to Loena even without a quad. That's what I'm wondering too. Is Anna's spot on the olympic team a sure thing? Of course they chose the podium girls to go to the Europeans because they earned it (at least officially) and because they want to go, but as I understood, only Kamila and Sasha are a lock for now.
Of course, if Anna manages decent scores, she'll go.
