Alysa doesn’t have a new SP… so I guess all this doom and gloom is what happens when one listens to everything spewed by TSL…

thank goodness. In general, I think TSL isn't a super reliable source for information about Alysa, and they've openly hated on her for years. So I wonder what they were talking about then, claiming that Alysa's coach texted them saying that they got a different short. I will say, though, I hope they modify her short slightly and remove some of the transitions. I think the short is a great character piece, but the choreography is a bit busy and some of Alysa's movements look quite rushed. I think it would improve by removing some of the transitions and that would probably also help Alysa in rotating their jumps.Alysa doesn’t have a new SP… so I guess all this doom and gloom is what happens when one listens to everything spewed by TSL…
Sorry, I meant successfully landing a 3-3, not just planning or attempting it.Karen will do a 3-3 in FS as she has been doing all season. She will do a 3-3 in the SP as long as the first jump is stable enough to not double it. Karen has raised her BV this year (which I think is part of the reason why she went from being somewhat consistent last season to more inconsistent this season- the layout is more difficult) and hopefully she will finally be able to deliver it cleanly at nationals.
How do you know?Alysa doesn’t have a new SP…
Alysa just debunked the new SP rumor on Instagram Live. How do you know?
I responded to someone else's response to my comments. I don't think there's a limit to how many times we can contribute to a topic especially if someone else has responded to one's own.
To be fair, this whole thing was done so close to Nationals. It’s not particularly common for a skater to switch coaches barely 2 months before an event that will decide if they compete at the Olympics or not.
Yes. Isabeau Levito, if healthy, is the “ineligible for Senior” Junior that can podium. I’m interested to see how all the ladies stack up against one another. Don’t forget, that even if you don’t make it to the Olympic team, there are spots for 4CC and Junior Worlds up for grabs. Also, first alternate could be someone sent to Worlds if someone from Olympic team is unable to go.Everyone just saw Russia, known for letting their junior ladies run wild at Nationals, force a fully senior podium in order to protect the reputation of their Olympic team. The US might be taking notes and getting ready to manipulate their own scores a litte. If they have to send Mariah and Karen, they don't want to send them as the reigning 4th and 5th placers.
Fair, but she switched before most of the main competitions. Alysa switched after both of her GPs were over. And 5 months is still a lot more time than two months..Uh, Gracie Gold, 2014? It was about 5 months, but 2? 5? pretty close in the not able to build the training relationship
I don't have any information about their contract. It was just my initial guess. In fact, nobody on this forum and TSL have any clue about the contract. However, readernick did answer my question. It's very likely that Alysa team bought and owned SP and LP. Alysa can keep the music and concept. Is she going to perform the same way as she did in GP? I don't think so. That's why her coach team texts and tells TSL that a "new" SP is coming (just my guess). But this is a contractural arrangement and since the skater pays for the program in essence does not that permit the skater to use the material created just for them? Where did you get this information? Is this a part of figure skating contract law? And how do we know her dad handled this badly?
First of all why on earth have you been spending so much time responding, rebutting, disputing, deconstructing a simple INITIAL response I had? And if your argument is that this is all based on conjecture, why are you positing the idea that Alysa's dad is the cause of any change and then asking me if I agree with what he did when THAT is just some suspicion on your part? You can't have it both ways.I don't have any information about their contract. It was just my initial guess. In fact, nobody on this forum and TSL have any clue about the contract. Forum is meant for "speculation", I don't think anyone here knows the truth or answer. How's Bradie injury? Nobody knows. How's Isabeau injury ("IF" she is really injured)? Nobody knows. Is Amber injured? I don't think so but again....nobody here really knows the answer either. Is Alysa going to skate "NEW" SP? Even though she is still skating to the same Gypsy Dance music, her team is likely to make significant adjustments so that she can rotate the jumps in later half better (e.g. Less frantic movements, easier jump entry, less busy program, longer jump set up, change the layout). The fact is....nobody knows until the national competition day. Before that day, it's all about guess and speculation.
Let me ask you this question, do you think he dad handle this situation in a very good way? Fire coach in less than 2 months before national?
I really hate that she feels that way about fans.Alysa Liu not only debunked rumors about their supposed new Short Program, but addressed conversations circulating around social media. Alysa discussed how she does not hate figure skating but rather the environment and community. Additionally, they talked about how she rarely watches figure skating because all they do is train and finding videos online is difficult.
A few of their quotes that I managed to catch but please be mindful that these are not verbatim:
- When asked about the rumors of a new Short Program, Alysa said, "I do not have a new Short Program. Guys, the Olympics are literally months away, why would I do that to myself? There are certain things out of my control and there are things in my control. I would never get a new Short Program two weeks away from Nationals."
- When asked about college, Alysa said they were applying and very excited about pursuing higher education.
- When asked about the skating community, she talked about how unhealthy fans' obsession with minors is, tactfully taking jabs at The Skating Lesson for spreading rumors about someone who is not of age yet.
- Alysa went on to discuss that she is excited for the Olympics but has an "I don't care" attitude about life because what happens will happen and the only they can control is what they put out on the ice.
- Alysa called figure skating fans "annoying" for prying too much into the personal lives of figure skaters and said the fans can be very "toxic." Alysa talked about a women's figure skater (Alysa did not want to name them) who received "backlash" and "hate" for one bad performance with fans acting like it was the end of the world. Alysa said this is why figure skating fans are so "weird."
Also, I know a few posters were wondering about Kanon Smith's whereabouts and she was seen on Alysa's live leaving the ice. She was as bubbly as ever and seemed close with Alysa.
After watching Alysa's lives on Instagram, I can say that they are acting like any other "typical" teenager. However, Alysa's maturity is understated and deserves applause as she truly seems to be levelheaded and understands that life exists beyond figure skating.
I feel immense empathy for Alysa considering the amount of social media hate she received during her junior years and subsequent senior debut. Alysa was 13-14 years old when people threatened her online, created anti-Alysa accounts to bash them, and when she began experiencing changes in their body, was written off and body shamed. Additionally, many adults chastised Alysa for “looking at Instagram comments.” Alysa was 13-14, raised in an era where the Internet makes up a large part of one’s every day life and they’re also naturally curious; no matter how protective one is, it is nearly impossible for a person like Alysa whose friends are also in figure skating to not see/hear of these comments (especially considering the boxed nature of the sport). Can you imagine the mental exhaustion? I don’t know of an adult, let alone a teenager, that would not be detrimentally impacted by such comments. We’ve seen time and time again with people like Gracie Gold and many others that words hold enormous power: power to kill or uplift. From my perspective, Alysa has handled life’s ordeals in a gracious manner. Now that they’re maturing into a young adult, Alysa probably feels the need to speak out. Fans, whether one’s own or otherwise, can be ruthless and must honor boundaries set by others.I really hate that she feels that way about fans.
Also TSL is NOT fans.
Glad to hear thar she called out how toxic figure skating fans can be!! She sounds a very well grounded young lady. It's just a rumor, not reliable source. Has anyone heard or know anything? "It's actually Karen Chen got new SP, not Alysa"

There you go, here is the link. Doesn't sound like a joke to me but again, I cannot tell.I believe you may be referring to a “joke” post?
Any kind of question like this may be easier to answer if you provide a link.
Also, to answer a question you had earlier, Forum guidelines prohibit gossip, rumors or speculation about a skater’s personal or family life, unless disclosed by the skater themselves. ETA: in which case, of course, it is not a rumor.
I agree. Some other folks on this forum report that "Amber is injured" "Isabeau is SERIOUSLY injured"....I don't think those are true statements but again I cannot tell.I believe you may be referring to a “joke” post?

Karen usually announce new SP/LP on her instagram and I haven’t seen anything. I guess we can all find out next week….There you go, here is the link. Doesn't sound like a joke to me but again, I cannot tell.
