Jason Brown

More Jason private ice practice videos:

Probably more vids than if he had attended official practice.

I actually know the two women who did the video and commentary. Both are major Jason fans. We hung out at Skate Canada in Montreal a few years ago. It was fun listening to them. Took away some of the sting of missing this. I just hope that Jason continues to stay away from everyone as best he can. It's getting really scary.

It IS getting scary. I just read in Philip Hersh's twitter that the protocol is for testing every 3 days. I was shocked. They should be testing daily. Omicron is an aerosol and can remain in the air for up to 16 hours. It's too easy to spread to only be testing every 3 days. I wish Jason would wear a mask while practicing!!! I'm not too nervous about his skating this weekend, but very nervous about covid.

But these practice videos look great!!!

That performance of Sinnerman was fantastic! So well done, Jason!!!

But I am now very, very worried about the OLY team. I'm afraid the guys with quads are going to pile up so many points, that Jason's exquisite skating and programs are not going to be able to keep him in the running. Malinin is very talented, but he doesn't compare to Jason overall .. but I'm worried his FS packed with quads (and lots of points) could land him on the podium with Chen and Zhou.

Does anyone have reassuring thoughts??

And whatever happens .. loved watching Jason. Still my all time favorite skater. Just can't bear to think how hard it would be on him to not make Olys.

I don't understand the details of Olympic team selections, but I think Jackie Wong does! Here is what he just tweeted:

Crunched numbers: Brown = priority group 3 based on his int'l scores; Malinin top 3 (finish) = priority group 3; Malinin top 5 (finish) = priority group 4. Brown would have the advantage in int'l scoring if in the same priority group.

Well, Atlanta would be where Delta comes in. But wow, he could have driven there faster.😣

Does anyone know how much snow they got in Nashville that caused all these problems? There is no snow in NYC (we have about two inches right now, and we’re 80 miles east (ETA: make that west, I’m not in the Atlantic Ocean ) of NYC, but that was all in the past three hours)
I have at least a couple of reassuring thoughts.
1-Body of work.
2-Ilia could well not make the Olympics FS based on his BOW while Jason has not bombed a SP all season and going back.

Should I go on?
Sinnerman was beautiful! It’s what we wanted! He seemed happy with his skate. Hoping tomorrow will be passionate and strong. I believe he will be going to Olympics

I'm coming here from the Men's SP thread because I'm tired of the Jason bashing over there. Sinnerman was so stunning! I mean - Ilia was great and I look forward to seeing where he goes (what is he -18?) but I still feel confident in Jason's chances of going to the Olympics. It makes the most sense. He is top 10 in the world.

Question - do you think he throws the quad tomorrow?

I'm done with that thread too. I want to enter a zen state to prepare for tomorrow, I don't need useless noise.

Jason should - should - be fine based on BOW and the current selection criteria grouping. Jackie seems to think that should Jason and Ilia end up in the same priority group, Jason will get it on the strength of his international scores.

All Jason has to do is skate a lovely clean free tomorrow and he'll be fine.

We have the harder task - we have to brace ourselves for a lot of griping, fighting, and arguing with the fools who have been so desperate to throw Jason on the trash heap.

I kind of think he does, too.
He will want to do it. He's not backing away from it. He'll skate the best he can. His skate today was amazing especially given his travel issues. He's well prepared. What other skaters do, they do. Jason will skate as well as he can and I think he'll skate very well. Yes, they gave him 49 points instead of 50, but that's still great PCs. This was just a crazy great competition. Everyone gave it their all and their best. Yes, I would like it better if he was in 3rd, but he's not far out. The final flight is going to be a very exciting event on Sunday.
