with kimmie unable to skate a clean LP this season and with her SP not exactly landing her the scores, I have given thought to what kimmie needs to regain her title as world champ, or even hold onto her national title. A few years ago, kimmie came out as the jumping bean, in 2006 she had 2 diffrent 3/3 combos as well as a 3 axel (athough she had not landed it in competiton since 2005) but she was trying them.

now she lands one 3/3. most 9 times out of ten it is cheated. Before, kimmie could get away with lack of artsitry becasue of her jumps. Now she no longer has the jumps, kimmi needs a wow factor... somthing to highlight her program. athough she seems to be working on her flexiblity....her spirals will never wow anybody, esp when is comepteing against marai and caroline.

I think that she should at least put in a spread eagle or an Ina bauer as tranistions. done at the right moment in the music either move can do wonders for a program. i have never seem kimie perform either one of these moves even in exebitions... is she capable of them?

Not sure what you are driving at. The post was a total downer with one saving grace, an Ina Bauer! I believe you are thinking of the two lead ladies going into the Worlds and judging Kimmie on her last showing in the GPF. Whether or not her jumps were solid, she did win over many skaters at SA and TEB before she had the GPF meltdown.

I believe Miki has done much better at her Nationals than in her meltdown at COR and didn't even get to the GPF. Kimmie's fans (I am not one) would probably hope for a good US Nats to get the ball rolling for the Worlds.

I think she deserves another chance and I am waiting for the Nats to see more.

As Joe said, it's not like she's had a disaster of a season.

What Kimmie needs to do is just calm down and focus and not worry about what Uncle Dick is thinking about her arms, or about the last competition and the falls, or even what will be said in teh papers if Caroline over takes her in the SP at nationals - I'm not saying she's thinking it, but if it's coming up on here she might be having similar thoughts, right? lol -

I think people just need to take a step back, let her have a 'bad' season... whatever that may be... it won't be the end of her career at all.

I agree with Tonichelle. I feel some people are overreacting to Kimmie's problems so far this season. She might just be having a bad year. Kimmie has been a good competitor in the past and I feel it's way too early to count her out.

Kimmie has not been a "WOW" type of skater. It's rather unlikely that she will develop into one in the future. What she needs to rely on is her positive attitude, hard work and determination. Even if she never stands at the top of the podium again, she will always be a former national and world champion. I think that's quite an accomplishment for her and any skater for that matter.

No, she doesn't have that wow factor, But I do think she could be so much better. I don't think Lori is the choreographer for Kimmie. It just doesn't work. That footwork sequence in her LP makes me cringe. Has anyone noticed the part where she does a little skip. Please, she should sue Lori for that.

She should bring back her fan spiral back. It really "Wowed" me when I first saw that.

yes, she placed well, but for the life of me i can't figure out why. what the judges see in her programs must be a whole other picture than what i see. I don't think she has had a clean LP yet, and if you incude a huge cheat, not a clean SP either. If she can reley on the judges holding her up she doesn't have to worry.

I remember how hard a year my first year of college was, and I wasn't a World-Class figure skater on top of all that. ;)

IIRC Dick Button repeatedly complimented Kimmie's version of this move, as being the only one that didn't make him cringe.

Sorta getting tired of these "omgz Kimmie is doomed" threads... let's WAIT and SEE imo. If she still has a rough time at nats and finishes off the podium then we can panic.

actually I was being sarcastic.. her fan spiral sure did wowed me but it wasn't because it was beautiful but it was...plain ugly! It really wowed me because she had the guts to show the ugliest fan spiral ever!

I agree that Kimmie is never a WOW skater.
But I have to admit that she gave attention to facial expression than last year, which is good.
OK, I am not Kimmie fan , so I'll let the convincing part to Kimmie's fan.;)

Kim is and will Never be a Wow skater. She does not do any flashy moves or fancy spins or jumps. However, I like the progress she is making into becoming "not boring" - incorporating her persona and showcasing it to the audience.

Kimmie was not at her best the entire season, but much much much better than Miki. :p and in spite of her poor season, Kimmie did make the Final.. Miki didn't, Did she? Have you figured out WHY?

I think Dick Button's point was that the forward fan spiral (AKA dog-and-hydrant) was itself ugly, and Kimmie was one of the few skaters who could actually pull it off with any kind of dignity.

she is only taking 2, one of them is online.

She took/ is taking 3 classes both fall/ winter semester.
And as someone who works at a college - online doesn't mean easier. It just means you don't have to physically go to a classroom.

We now return to your regularly scheduled Kimmie dissection.

Meissner's "wow" factor has been at US Nationals, where the last 3A attempt was by Tonya Harding and there were few 3/3's, especially harder than 3T/3T. She won Worlds when the only other top women performing them at the international senior level had retired, faultered, or were unable to land them. (ex: Slutskaya, Sokolova, Kostner.)

She was the first of her group, including Asada and Kim, to reach senior level, but once they joined her in seniors, her 3/3 attempts are what is expected at that level, not a special feat.
