US Olympic Team Announced

This is what the press release says about JW for singles @Jeanie19 :
Women and men will be named to the 2022 U.S. World Junior Team following the conclusion of the World Junior Singles Camp, Jan. 31-Feb. 1 in Norwood, Massachusetts.

So this is the only discipline so far with the first Olympic alternate traveling to 4CC? I wonder about the logic there.
Hmm, curious. Yeah, the pattern didn't follow. I wonder if either Lindsay or C&J declined 4CC themselves as a precaution?

Edited to add: yes, that makes sense that both ladies and pairs have a COVID positive issue right now so alternate is even more important there.

Isabeau is not age eligible for Olympics. Alysa should still be picked because she is in group 3. When you say "USFS should re-think this criteria in the future.", do you have a better thought?

Isabeau Levito could have been picked for the Olympic team, if she had not been underage. Her technical score for free skate was very impressive at 71+. It was an easy choice because Alysa's other competitors faltered in free skate.

No surprise with the Olympic selection. I'm surprised though that they have pretty much written off Calalang/Johnson...I feel sorry for them.

Not exactly written them off...they are alternates for both the OG and Worlds. There's chances there for them, although probably not for the best of reasons (although one of the two OG pairs might just decide to skip Worlds this year). For good order: I feel sorry for them too. But the choices made, don't surprise me.

Key word here is "alternates" and at the end of March they may easily end the season with only being alternates for OG and Worlds, no 4CC, none of that is going to bring them any points into the standings and make their position for next GP season easier if they intend to continue. I fully agree with the OG selection they went with the 2 couples with best BOW, but either allowing C/J to do 4CC or naming them to WC would have made sense here, especially if they could easily medal at 4CC this year.

Knierim/Frazier aren't even reputation team, since they are pretty short amount of time competing together. I do not understand a decision of writing C/J off :(

I wonder if they think Green/Parsons stand a really good chance of winning which would set them up well for the next quad (and gain a lot of WS points too) so it's worth the risk?
Is it possible that Green/Parsons asked to be sent to 4CCs? They may want the additional opportunity to prove themselves and/or championship experience, and they otherwise have only alternate assignments.

You are making assumptions C/J were "written off." I find that highly unlikely. More likely that USFS told them they were Olympic first alternates and also on 4CC team if they wanted to go....and C/J themselves declined 4CC so as not to risk travel/Covid in case they are called up to travel to China. Which I would say right now, is very possible given Brandon's situation.

C/J probably also realize that their predicament is largely their own doing. If they could just land their d@mn jumps consistently, they'd be right up there. They have the rest of the package.

Yeah I don’t understand this USFS wrote them off? no they wrote themselves off. I guess USFS should hold them up because maybe you’ll get there and you’ll be able to do the jumps.

Unfortunately the two teams ahead of them have been more consistent.
