Jason Brown

I’m not surprised by Tara’s comments since she only knows jumps but Johnny Weir really disappointed me. For all his talk about how important the artistic side of skating should be, he didn’t hesitate to throw Jason under the bus. Hopefully the selection committee will repeat what they did in 2018.
I'm worried they'll do what they did in 2014 when Jason unexpectedly got silver at Nationals and went to the Olympics ... presumably instead of someone who was previously expected to be on the team.

I soooo wish scoring would give more value to skills other than jumping. The current PCs scoring a will never to provide enough points to encourage skaters to develop skating skills, performance, choreography, etc. As good as some of these other skaters are .. I think most of their programs look like just one jump after the other. One of the great things about this sport is the combination of athleticism and artistry.
Makes me sad for the fans, and for skaters like Jason.

Vincent has a history of letting nerves get the better of him like today; when he is on, he is spectacular but he isn’t always. Ilia has imploded his jumps in competition before leaving his PCS to carry him..
Jason’s consistency rules. Let us hope the committee sees it 😏
The difference between Vincent and Jason is .38 points. I hope they send the Ilia to Junior.

I just need to come over here and say I wish ppl would stop ignoring the technical prowess of Jason's skating skills. I know you all do not. It's not like he's some bum skating around between triples. I mean, everyone keeps talking about how Jason doesn't jump and how he is overscore.d Let's see what Illia, Nathan, or Vincent could score with Jason's program?

I couldn't agree with you more. It isn't EASY what he does or more skaters would be able to do it. I cringe when I hear people talking about some of the elite skaters (not Nathan) and how wonderful their skating skills are. On what planet? I am trying not to be prejudiced but Vincent had a really bad skate today. He clearly had the whammies and you could tell it the minute he skated on the ice. Following Nathan is definitely an undesirable position. Seeing Jason crying on the ice just about did me in. If someone made me queen, I'd send Ilia to Juniors. He is going to be fabulous though. I hope whatever happens that Jason knows he's loved and cherished.

When Jason cried, that was it for me. I was crying, too.

And sworddance, I'm with you. They talk about other skaters technical skills and Jason's artistry - as if he was not a also an amazing athlete with incredible technical skills. Drives me crazy.

A few years ago there was mention of splitting FS into artistic and ? technical?? Not sure what they called the divisions, but I wish they would do it.

Sometimes I wish we could see Jason SLAY compulsory figures (but then, I'm old...)

These past weeks I kept thinking it was a mistake for Jason to withdraw from Golden Spin. He could have gotten a top 5 score there, and it would have made a difference. That event was ok, no one withdrew because of a positive test. On the other hand, these Nationals should have been in a bubble without spectators and very strict protocols, not the mess it turned out to be.

Tara and Johnny really don’t care about artistry. They care about quads. You can’t get lost in those terrible programs about jumping. Tara needs to be replaced. She never had artistry herself. Not everyone enjoys the same types of programs.

Agreed. I don’t think usfs did a good job protecting the athletes. i loved Jason’s SL it was beautiful compared to all the others.
