Sofia Akateva

Why was the S - Kat upset afterwards? because she almost put her hand on the ice?

That looked like a stellar skate to me not perfect but stellar.

Is that Zhenys speaking?

Where were the fans? That place should have been packed.
the whole pack mood in the FS ranged from "desperate" to "simply unsatisfied" with maybe one/two excpetion betwen the girl no fighting for a top 10 finish.
It was pretty strange but also a good demostration of how much this little girls expect from themselfs and how high the standard they aspire to.

Unbelievably high standard but they can't be so hard on themselves. We thought 3A was incredible as juniors and then KV and this girl SA takes the cake.

Apologize for the first two messages: I came here for Sofia and ended up talking too general instead.
Back on track:

It was my first time seeing Sofia.
I do not follow juniors except juniors at nationals or the GP final but Sofia was not there.
I've been enchanted by her skating.
Not just the techinical but especially her presence on the ice.
So light and soft and yet fast, almost ethereal like a fairy on the ice.
A Cloud of Cotton Candy

There is no doubt she is still unfulfilled in some expressions: she reminded me a bit of Anna at the start of her senior year before she developed the full range of her interpretations, like she feels inside but she's still unsure or shy on how to communicate, but she's still so young.
I'm sure she will develop in that aspect and become magnificent.

I admire the thecnical elements (ultra or not) but my favorite skaters are those who manage to tickle my senses while doing almost nothin and, for sure, she is one of them.

Sofia Akateva is expressing her "good luck" wish to the olympic athletes. (y)

Don't know whether the post will be shown properly like the upper one did not, so I'll post it both as a link and as media:

It is no secret that the Olympics is a special tournament for any athlete, and one of the main goals of the entire competitive path. I am sincerely happy for all the participants in our Russian figure skating team, as well as in other sports that have qualified for these Games! Tomorrow the team of figure skaters and coaches is leaving for Beijing. With all my heart I wish everyone good health and good luck, may the Olympic magic be the happiest and most unforgettable for you!✨ And we will be very worried and rooting for you 🤞🏻So I want every athlete to feel the support of their fans, so that our positive emotions and good wishes give you even more strength.💪🏻I wish everyone to show their maximum and fulfill their dream! 💓 Successful starts, bright emotions, and, of course, victories!🙏🏻🥇

Sofia is growing! She's almost a head taller than Petro. ;)

I hope she skates more next season we've hardly seen her this season.

while mortals skate over the ice, this cloud of cotton candy keep flying above it like gravity stops to watch her.
Not perfect (it's in her capabilities) but absolutely enchanting.

I hope at the moment ISU will vote about raising age limit someone will say "But we will deprive the audience of senior events from seeing Akatieva for two more years" and everybody will vote against.

I agree with you wholeheartedly but I don't think the International skating unit is going to be giving Russia a break anytime soon. Not even when it comes to this phenomenon who may be in juniors like 4 years or something unless they gradually increase the age limit and just don't bump it up to 17 or 18 right away.

I'm glad SA won the Russian cup and had a great free skate. But she hasn't skated much this year at all so I wonder if her talent is really being developed like it should be.

Really? I feel like I've seen her a lot this season.. ;) I finally watched the Russian cup final... didn't see the SP due to bad video quality but I saw in the protocol that she fell on 3A... well it had to come one day, I guess.. ;) But after FS it was obvious the gold medal is in good hands.. :points:

It is relative to other skaters (esp. other Sofias), who also lost JGPF but at least skated at senior nationals. Now they all lost junior worlds. :(

Well senior nats are the only difference I think.. and Samodelkina wasn't at Russian cup final... loss of junior worlds is sure painful, I wonder how much more unfortunate she can be, first her unfortunate birth date, covid and now this. Junior Worlds is really not worth watching...
