Jason Brown

... That way Delta only needs to paint one plane.

Now let's see if Jason lets us know that he is on it

FYI: For yesterday's charter, Delta did not use its one plane painted in support of Team USA.

(The charter was on an Airbus 350-900; the painted plane is an Airbus 330-900.
IIRC, it was never the plan to use the customized livery -- which is a nice visual for promotional purposes -- for the charter.)

In any case, safe travels and good luck to Jason and Team USA. :)

Melanie Heaney (PSA Photographer of the Year who was honored for her photo of Jason) is en route to 2022 Beijing -- as a credentialed photographer for her first Olympic Games.

Melanie must pay her own way, and she set up a GoFundMe to help cover costs.

presumably before heading out on the charter tomorrow. Ashley C-G gave a shout-out to the Rinks for hosting "before we leave for Beijing tomorrow".

That's good to know. There has been so much conflicting information about that charter flight. I kept reading from Delta that there was only one Charter, but that may have just meant the plane was chartered but that it will make more than one trip. As long as they all get there. it doesn't matter which plane.

Yet another Jason interview (maybe this is really recent, from LA, because he is Zooming from a pretty bleak bedroom. I suspect a hotel room): a few new insights. We do find out that in COVID times he's learned to play to the cameras.;)

(the podcast guys may not be the most knowledgeable about skating, or Jason's medal chances, but at least no quad questions(y))

It's definitely a hotel (those patterned pillows on the chair!) He's wearing new Olympic Gear. It was a recent interview. He even mentions that the Olympics begin next week. Nice interview and mercifully, no quad questions. It was a fan interview. Jason handled the medal comment very well.

Karen Chen posted 35 minutes ago from the rink in Beijing. They have arrived!
Yes I think the first group arrived safely. Madi/Zach posted an IG story from a bus on the way to the olympic village and Nathan had 2 practice sessions today with Michal Brezina and Boyang Jin. I didn't see anything about Alexa, Brandon, Alysa and Vincent but assume they are all ok as we haven't heard anything that would suggest otherwise. They must be so exhausted. The time difference between LA and Beijing is brutal and will take some getting used to.

ETA: I actually don't know if Alysa traveled with the first group or will travel with Jason's group.

Looks like they’re getting ready to leave today!! Excited but nervous - no sign of Tracy, do we think she’ll be flying from Canada? Tom Z went with Vincent so I wondered if coaches would be considered part of Team USA if their athlete is?
Yes I'm sure Tracy will be with Jason. Raf was spotted at the main rink when Nathan and Brezina practiced earlier today so he must have been with the first group too.
