The point was to tamp down the unreasonable hype and expectations that were placed upon her before the GP season had even begun, which was when the comment was originally made. Please point out to me where I ever said the Japanese team was invincible. Or where I ever said Liu couldn't beat them. To the contrary, I pointed out how the Japanese have badly underperformed at big competitions in recent years. I was speaking about relative skill and talent level of the skaters.

Maybe that was your intent but that is not the way many took it (obviously). And you said Alysa might be able to beat them in your recent post here. But your original statement was that Alysa wouldn't be in the top 5 in Japan, full stop. And of course, the Japanese are not invincible. No skater is. But the fact that Karen beat their World team tends to contradict your opinion that Alysa, who actually has higher TES potential than Karen, wouldn't be in the top 5, if such a match were held (which it will not be).
I think its time to let this go. People here will get upset,and it really doesn't matter, Lol. So good luck to Liu.

These three had two spots this year and qualified to Olympics and Worlds and should have automatic spots, as long as they don’t retire. Then,
Levito (2 Spots)
Shin (2 Spots)
Glenn (1 Spot)
are next in line in regards to Season best scores. All scored over 200 this season.
But, one would think Tennell would get one too, if she decides to make a comeback.
I would also think Gabby Izzo could get the WC spot to SA due to her fourth place finish at Nationals.
Does this mean Lindsay T. and Clare Seo are stuck in Juniors for another year? Also, it looks like Andrews is done competing in the Senior Circuit, as she is far too behind to be considered.

How come the US women only have 11 spots for senior GP? I thought seniors was allocated based on the skater's results and not allocated to a country like JGP?

I don't understand how getting GP spots works. I think in ladies, the limit is 18 (3 spots at the total 6 events) so I guess 11 spots isn't all that bad...I guess? With the lineup the US ladies has next season, considering karen may retire,, I'd say 11 spots is enough.
You may be right. I’m not sure how it works. I’m going based on spots from last year.

I'm sure that Lindsay will get two GP spots next year. She qualified for the GP Final and she was the fourth highest ranking senior eligible lady at US Nationals. If I were to guess, these ladies would get two spots:
- Alysa (if she stays)
- Bradie (if she competes)
- Amber (if she continues)
- Isabeau
- Lindsay
- Audrey
I think both Mariah and Karen are retiring (they haven't said this, just my personal speculation since Karen has been to two Games now and is already enrolled in college, Mariah is on the older side and has won a National title before retiring)

That would be perfect! If I was Karen and Mariah, I might stop too. But, if either one doesn’t, I honestly see Lindsay as the one to be left out. This only occurred to me, after Shin’s incredible 4CC. After that performance, I was happy for Shin, but, it now makes me nervous for Lindsay who was underscored, in my opinion, at her challenger event. She has to rely on retirements. Also, I can see them giving Skate America to Izzo too.

Lindsay will have another opportunity at Junior Worlds to compete. Even if her scores there aren't enough to guarantee two Grand Prix spots, I'm sure that she will get a host spot at Skate America if that's the case. I also agree that Gabby Izzo would be next on the list for a Skate America host spot.
Lindsay is currently #49 on World Rankings and #37 on SB list.
She can pick up some points at JW, but unfortunately, the top finisher gets only 500 points, and you can bet that there will be 3 Russian women at the top. So 4th-5th-6th are worth only 354, 328 and 295 points respectively. At best, Lindsay could move up from 49th place on the WR list to around #40. Not much help there.
On the SB list, Lindsay's current score is 193.77. #24 is Samodelkina with 205.67, but she is also going to JW and will probably top that score. So Lindsay will likely have to hope for a host spot at SA, and she will have to do well at summer comps for that.

I agree. I worry about Alysa having the stamina to do 2 individual events as well as the team event. The US needs her scoring potential but, I have to wonder how she'll handle doing both events.

I'm scared Alysa was robbed from the team event. God help USFS.
Eh, I don't think she would be robbed if she had been left out of the team event (which would surprise me), while she has had some higher segment scores than the other 2 ladies she hasn't been that consistent, she had the last minute coaching change and did miss Nationals due to covid - it would seem odd for them to not use their National champ in the Team event and the substitutions available are limited. The US Fed has been pushing her for 3 years, if they aren't putting her in the team event its likely for good reason or with her teams blessing.

Alysa recently recovered from C****, better to have them healthy and ready for the individual event.
