Virtue & Moir just scored their highest CD yet 40.04, Hann-McCurdy & Coreno 32.62, Weaver& Poje 32.54, to the Yankee Polka, rest of the results at skate canada site. I was worried V&M would get left out of the extremely high scoring as seen at Russian Nats (K&N 41.32) and the French nats (D&S 41.00). The OD and FD were extremely high at these nats as well , so we will see if Skate Canada is brave enough to push V&Ms marks to the top as well?

The CD marks were horribly inflated.

V/M did the Yankee Polka at Skate Canada (also on home ice) and scored 36.25, almost 4 points lower than the 40.04 they got at Nationals. It's interesting that their Nationals score is almost exactly the same as DomShabs' Yankee Polka score from Cup of Russia (40.05).

Hann-McCurdy/Coreno scored 25.51 at Skate Canada, and 32.62 at Nationals, a huge boost (mostly in the PCS scores)

Weaver/Poje scored 25.07 at Skate Canada and 32.54 at Nationals, also a big jump, also due to PCS scores.

lt's kind of useless thinking, though, because the Yankee Polka will NOT be the CD at Worlds (it was chosen for Euros).

yeah, but maybe they are thinking to show that this team is capable of earning such high marks, like the other teams, no matter what the dance is?:biggrin:

What it really shows is what the valuation the federation judges put on their top skaters. Scores at nationals are always inflated in nearly every country, but they don't seem to put them any higher than the low forties for a CD.

The interesting thing is the difference they set between their 2nd & 3rd skaters and the top skaters.

So here in Canada, and coincidentally for the Yankee Polka in both competitions:

canadian Nationals skate canada delta
V&M 40.04 36.25 3.79
HM/C 32.62 25.51 7.11
W/P 32.54 25.07 7.47

Thus we see that HM/C and W/P had their scores much more inflated than Tessa & Scott.

Note, Weaver/Poje scored 27.47 on the Austrian Waltz at TEB for comparison.

Also, the are saying that they think HM/C are at least 7.42 points worse than V&M. That's probably a reasonable thing to say.

Guys, at Russia Nationals Khohlova/Novitsky have 41 point in CD. Theye highest score was 34,89 before Nationals. All federationes made this ;)

Except the British federation. Evgeny Platov is on the record as saying they're doing their skaters a disfavour by not inflating their marks, because high marks, even obviously inflated ones, will intimidate the competition.:p
