What If Rohene Ward Skates 2 Clean Programs?

He has a quad; he has all the triples, he has all the spins including a layback that would make a female skater envious. He has all the transitional moves and moves in the Field including a die-for ina bauer.

Subjectively, he has a lyrical style with the best of that type of skating with musicality. His choreography is one with the music? You may think his style is feminine-like and wonder if that will that keep the majority of judges at bay.

Whether you like Rohene or not, speaking for myself, you will not turn your head on him.

I'm hoping for two clean ones, and hopefully the judges will appreciate someone not in the mainstream of prediction. If so I believe him to be podium bound.

I think that if Rohene puts out two squeeky clean performances with a quad, he will win the bronze - depending on how Evan & Johnny perform. If Evan & Johnny totally bomb in one portion of the competition, Rohene will win the silver. If both Evan & Johnny bomb but Rohene is PERFECT - he will win the boronze. This is one thing that I truly hate about Nationals in all countries... I cannot remember the last time a truly spectacular performance from an internationally unknown was rewarded over a popular champion / former champion.

But I could be wrong - either way I love Rohene and wish him all the best at Nationals....

I notice this topic was ushered off the Edge but topics on Evan and Johnny remain there. True they are articles about the two principal boys. Maybe no one is interested in Rohene.to do an article except me, and I don't have the credentials for having it on The Edge.

But aren't you a moderator?!? Stand up for your rights Joe! Move this back to the edge and let the little people eat cake!!!

Results thus far?

How have his results been from the season thus far? He had to skate sectionals and regionals, right? I tried but could not find the results.

If he skates 2 clean programs(which I hope he does:rock:) Im sure he would be on the podium. He has such talent and such potential, I hope he doesnt let his nerves get the best of him. Rock on Rohene!!

:scratch:? I thought the USA just did that in 2007. That was why Ryan Bradley was silver and Johnny Weir was bronze.

Rohene has a great abilities, no doubt about that.

I haven't been a moderator for severall years now. No more problems with strange posters which there used to be in those early years. And btw, the present moderators do an excellent job.

Only person I can think of is Cynthia Phaneuf 2004 Canadian Nationals

I don't know how he will place, but I love to watch him skate. I hope he skates well, no matter the placement.

Go for Midwestern Sectionals Sr.Men but he was not at his best. Still he stands out amon the others except for Braden who was not at his best also.

Joe, I noticed that too and wondered why but it could be because it's closer to Nationals?? Oh well, I love watching Rohene, I hope he does well.

Actually, Rohene's skating has progressed all year. No, he didn't skate his BEST at Sectionals, but it was quite impressive. Besides, who wants him to peak in November? ;)

Have you all forgotten Rudi Galindo in 1996?

Who expected him to win? and in his home town too!

My guess is that it's because Rohene is unknown internationally. It makes sense to move a thread about him here in the US Nationals folder.

Has anyone ever seen him do even one clean program? He always seems to pop his jumps and rush his technique.

RW is not just talented, he is gifted. I think at his best he could best Johnny and Evan. I hope he lands on the podium but I'm not expecting it. He is inconsistant. Also the international judges do not know him so who knows how he would fare at Worlds even if he made it that far. I do like him as much as I like Lambiel.

He's like the combination of Evan and Johnny. Such a talent. From what I've seen, however, he makes too many mistakes. I hope he will be in great shape and skate almost clean programs!

Rohene has surely proven that he's talented. He has to prove to the USFSA that he can be a great competitor in order to have a chance of topping a clean Evan and a clean Johnny. Jeremy Abbott is just as talented as Rohene is and the same holds true for him. They both have to prove themselves as competitors to the judges. I think both of them present themselves stylistically better and have far greater musicality than both Evan and Johnny, but Evan and Johnny are the more reliable jumpers. I'd love a national podium and a world team that included both Jeremy Abbott and Rohene Ward, but they have to become more consistent jumpers to seriously compete with the rest of the world. They have all of the difficulty needed; what's missing is the consistency.
