Kamila Valieva: Anti-doping Case and Follow-ups

I would really like not to get into the field of countris (aka politics), because that's what makes the discussion so apssionate.

I would also like to avoid any "judge lynch" rhetoric whether it comes to skaters or others. That's why the legal procedures exist.

I mean there is a reason why Kamila is on Team ROC and not Team Russia at the Olympics. Let's not beat around the bush here. Russia is a bit too soft handed when it comes to punishing the usage of banned substances and is need of a serious change.

i am so angry that not even her coaching team protects her , they let her into the mixed zone all allone while the reporters are waiting . she is 15 she should not even be in that position thanks to that coaching team and her trust in them she is in this situation and now they cant even take the time so that an adult goes with her? they are three persons and none of them could go with her through that zone? really i am so so angry

this is my biggest shock, that heckler happened because she was vulnerable. where is Kamilas mother, at least give her a guardian of eteris team can't escort her

My favourite part of this article is this line from Zhurova:

“We cannot expect anything else from them.... It makes no sense to scold and accuse them of something, they will still behave this way."

The. Freaking. Irony. :rolleye:

agree the ruling must be completed way before Feb 15
It may only be a temporary ruling but they need something now for the sake of this 15 year old and her emotional well being. This is a cchild not a 30 year old woman they should not drag us out any longer.

keep up with original post, the same reporter was the heckler.

I was just pointing out the irony of a Russian saying, "it makes no sense to scold and accuse them because it won't change their behaviour" in the context of a doping controversy (of which Russia is at the centre of), given Russia/USSR's longstanding history of doping and being sanctioned but still getting caught/stripped.

Media release from CAS

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES BEIJING 2022 (5)
THE CAS AD HOC DIVISION REGISTERS THE APPLICATIONS FILED BY THE IOC AND WADA AGAINST THE DECISION ISSUED BY THE RUSADA DISCIPLINARY ANTI-DOPING COMMITTEE IN RELATION TO FIGURE SKATER KAMILA VALIEVA
Beijing, 11 February 2022 – The Ad hoc Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered the applications filed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) against the decision issued by the RUSADA Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee on 9 February 2022 (the Challenged Decision) in which the provisional suspension imposed on figure skater Kamila Valieva following the detection of the banned substance trimetazidine in a sample provided by her was lifted, allowing her to continue her participation in the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. The applications were received at the CAS Ad Hoc Division in Beijing at 20:45 and 22:20 respectively, on Friday, 11 February 2022 (time of Beijing). The CAS Ad Hoc Division registered the applications under the references: CAS OG 22/08 IOC v/ RUSADA and CAS OG 22/09 WADA v/ RUSADA and Kamila Valieva. The applications will be consolidated. A Panel of arbitrators will be appointed shortly to decide the matter. The Panel will issue procedural directions, including directions for a hearing. The date and time of the CAS decision will be announced after the hearing.

I stopped watching gymnastics then and haven't watched a second since..... doping laws are too often extremely dysfunctional...
I feel that this whole system is wrong and unfair in its foundation.

If you declare the principle - "Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus" ("Let justice be done, though the world perish") then at least must have reliable and transparent instruments. Instead, we see these wonderful delays ending exactly one day after the team tournament.

You can't play one way game. Are you such lovers of formalism and rigor? Okay. But then there must be formalism and rigor in protecting rights of athletes and teams. For example, you could not cope in due time? Your problems, the doping test is not valid. Otherwise, it's an unfair - We are a) taking away your team medal (which you could be guaranteed to keep by simply replacing the athlete), and b) your athlete will be thousands of kilometers away from her home and surroundings and in a short time in shock, stressful conditions to solve the problem "what in my house, food, products, family prescription, etc. could hurt me?"

The whole system is unfair and unnatural at its core.

the attached post made it sound like he got death threat in reality he heckled, he was outnumbered and left, I wonder what they'll do if some foreign say something not nice about their queen, I dislike privilidge and a vapid anti monarch. pfff

What gives me the most courage is all the hate that has already been launched on TT. They are literally the most watched team in the world, they have had multiple athletes with clean records. Eteri is no fool, she wouldn't put her reputation in question for one more student as if it were her only card. Now they are saying that Anna and Sasha must be in the same regimen... which regimen? There is no proof but the press found the perfect moment to bring down TT. I trust that they will come out of all this scandal well, that they are supporting Kami and that everything will be a bad episode. Honestly, without the Russian ladies, the women's competition would be the most insignificant in Olympic history.

We are in the world where a claim"it was just my lipstick" always prevail (with zero backlash before), while one single report never recorded before on a ton of occasions leads to "they all are criminals", that undermines any claim "justice is the only thing that drives me". There is a not only a trace of personal prejudice in that.

But hey, maybe it will lead to a state where only the russian internal competitions will be interesting and won't be so afraid of whom they will choose for worlds/europeans/olympics and all sides will be happy

eteri supporting kamila? more likely trying to save her own skin . i mean if they were trying to protect her than they would not have let her in the mixed zone on her own period. dudakov could have gone with her for example or even danny g. but nope a 15 year old underaged child has to go through mixed zone hiding her face all on her own. sadly the truth is. whatever happens now it probably damaged kamilas career in such a huge way that i dotn knwo if she can recover from that or if that will actually be the last time we see her , and thats just heartbreaking.

same guy who made the heckling, at least we know his name. He should have had the etiquette of the Asian journalists, he was surrounded by Russian journalists after that he left. such a drama queen

Not more dramatic than "Our Russian journalists can tear you to pieces!"

I agree that him asking Kamila that point blank question was not appropriate, but there's no defending that reaction (death threats, verbal abuse, etc.).
