Kamila Valieva: Anti-doping Case and Follow-ups

That's so depressing! One of the greatest moments of an athlete's life won't happen now....and Team Japan and Team US (and Team Canada I guess) don't get their moment.

I can understand Kamila's desire to continue, but what's the Russian Figure Skating Fed's take on this? Are they really willing to throw away everything for Kamila? I can't imagine Sasha and Anna will be very pleased at missing out on their podium moment - since they're very likely to end up on the podium too.

Eteri and co have always claimed that they don't treat one skater better than the others, but now it seems they do, because they're willing to take this moment away from Anna and Sasha.
I wonder if they're just in the weeds now and scrambling.

There is really no time for rational planning and consideration.

So it's like " Yup yup, you skate, yup you guys win, we'll deal with this sh$t later"

That's what it feels like!

the thread is growing fast and I don't see if anyone posted this news.
Dear Alex, are you related to that guy who skated with Angelika Krylova?

What about the silver medalist? No one but some figure skating fans will remember her name, if she will be the gold medal winner eventually.
I'm pretty sure that the first four will all be more remembered now than without the scandal.

But of course it's heartbreaking if anyone loses her olympic moment, can't participate in the ceremonies at the olympics or get the medal awarded with delay.

But purely speaking from a legal standpoint it's imho easier to let them all skate and determine the result afterwards than that Valieva is supended and acquitted afterwards.

It's so sad to see you two, of all people, triumphing and gloating over the fact Anya and Sasha are about to take up this unfair and unjust fight in the most important tournament of their lives. It's like you have wiped your shoes on their life-long honest effort and aspirations. 😔

First I lost faith in my favourite coach in figure skating, now in my two favourite people in this forum. Tough time. 🥺

Well I kinda feel like telling Eteri, Danny G and hell even Sergei that they wouldn't understand the importance of a Olympic podium moment since none of them have ever had one.

But then seriously, they must know, even I know!

As someone asked before what about the irreparable damage this does to the women in the Women's competition? They probably all feel like crap right now.

Holy F..., even Yuna Kim issued a statement.

'Athlete who violate doping cannot compete in the game. This principle must be observed without exception. All players' efforts and dreams are equally precious.'

If even Queen Yuna herself makes a statement we are truly in a serious problém.

Ho hum just another day at the office. Nothing was done and nothing of any consequence will come of this in the future. If it does, it will be for optics. As soon as I saw the American judge had also defended Maria Sharapova against her doping charges and defended at least one othe person charged for doping, it was a done deal. And how many wow emojis will I get now for saying this? I could not care less.

Good. At least they are consistent.

If it was only the team that was delayed then it was a huge red flag that the fix was in.

At least they are pretending to be fair.

But even Maria got suspended?

I just think it makes no sense, has a minor in a sport never been caught doping before? I suppose not since it's a really f-ed up thing to do, so not many people would.

I just don't get it... I mean Caster Semenya must be furious as well, as I previously mentioned she has naturally high testosterone, but CAS's decision was that she should take hormone-blockers to bring it down to be able to compete? How is that fair? Too bad they didn't discover it when Caster was under 16 I guess.
