Kamila Valieva: Anti-doping Case and Follow-ups

If you were using this type of medicine for treatment, you would have been advised by your doctor not to crush it, cut it, or divide it in any other way as then it is losing its therapeutic effect and I assume, achieving this effect would be the main reason for you to take it in the first place. So you would not have done it as you'd have no reason to.
I did cut my medication when there was no such dose tablet available. My friend even brought a special cutter from pharmacy

It pretty much went like this : "Hello, How are things, We heard you have a problem?" Let's talk about it in a few weeks... "
if my experience is any guide, most of the time went into defining scope to everyone’s agreement, then establishing and testing jurisdiction, because the violation occurred in a national comp and was reported at this time with an additional complication. Basically, their conclusion was that the call belonged to Rusada, they made it, and that, yes, the actual violation will have to be processed later. The legalities didn’t allow them pull Valieva off. That’s like six of those seven hours, probably. And another hour of swearing, and discussing the risk to credibility.

They also could have made a bold call... but it takes balls to do that.

Sakamoto was asked if Valieva should have been allowed to skate the individual event. She said yes. Even when it comes to elegance and manners, Sakamoto and Shcherbakova are a class above the field.

I was reading this thread, unregistered. However, I felt the need to register to state a few facts with regard to Trimetazidine.

It is available in various forms:

Tablet with enteric coating: This will only start working in you intestines, and that would take a few hours. Used chronically as a preventative medication. Probability of contamination non-existent unless crushed beforehand.

Sustained release / slow release: Starts working earlier but gives a sustained release. Used as a preventative medication. Probability of contamination very low because it consists of coated granules in a solid tablet or capsule format.

Immediate release form: As a preventative medicine, this has to be taken three times daily. You can also place it under the tongue for almost instant relief. It gets in your saliva when swallowed, more so when placed under the tongue. It can contaminate your hands too.

Nasal spray / Oral spray: Gives the fastest relief, it gets in your blood very quickly. Formulated for rapid relief. Gets in your saliva. Contaminates the air when the spray is primed, can be inhaled by a bystander.

The fact that rapid relief forms exist, implies that a single dose can have a therapeutic effect. Relief is not only by chronic use.

It feels like this has to be explained at least once every two pages in this thread.
Well, there is definition of doping that ppl use and there is WADA definition of doping, from WADA Code. And they are not the same.
ARTICLE 1
DEFINITION OF DOPING
Doping is defined as the occurrence of one or more of the antidoping rule violations set forth in Article 2.1 through Article 2.11 of the Code.
So from WADA definition K. Costner is a doper too. (2.11)
Miss test 3 times - you a doper (2.4)
If you have TMZ with you for your grandpa - you are a doper (2.6)

And so on.

Normally, you wouldn’t do a rushed call that can be reasonably contested. And in this case, it was likely determined, that it would have been. They have a recourse of a leisurely proceedings when nobody could say that the Russians didn’t have a fair hearing, for the minor inconvenience of stripping medals and fed-exting them later. Medals, that IOC doesn’t intend to award in the first place. Swift justice is nice, but water-tight case and no rush is nicer.

You had me until "above the field" :sneaky:
you think any of the other women would've ventured
a less elegant answer at a press conference at this time?

Well, I think I was inactive like for 3 years in a row on this forum actually, lol.

I guess I am starved of attention enough to quote myself here  ... but anyway ... please tell me is it worth my time to read through all 179 pages of this thread that I missed? Should I? Should I not?

I am intruiged but simultaneously I do think that I can spend my time better! I mean it is like falling into a black hole.

Oksana Baiul shared in her instagram story a video of Eteri talking about her team's use of meldonium to help with endurance until it was banned in 2015 and their plan was to find a different drug to replace it post-ban.
