Ok. Thanks. Cool. That means Sofia M. with her 3A is well equipped for next season and doesn’t have to worry about upcoming juniors from Russia, for the following 2 years 👏

Thanks for the explanation. Hard to keep up with all the other news

Honestly, I've never witnessed something as weird as this competition. It seemed wrong at the beginning, and everything just got worse. I don't think that we will see Anna, Kamila and Sasha at World. They need some time to get over this story.

I'm not sure about that. Without those three, Russia will have to send Tuktamysheva, Khromykh and Sinitsyna. And I don't think they want to send Sinitsyna as she's very unlikely to be on the podium.

I don't think Anna will be at worlds because I'm quite sure she will be busy with press tour, endorsement etc.

Sure she said she loves competing but will she even have the time to focus on practice to be competitive for worlds? If I were her, I don't think I will have the motivation right away to go back to the ice especially when I'm on cloud 9 and getting the superstar treatment.

We will probably see Sasha at worlds. She wants a gold.

Kamila will definitely NOT go to Worlds, there will be the doping investigation,
It will be Trusova, Liza and Anna

Provisional suspension of Kami is lifted. She can compete whenever she want as long as new suspension not imposed. Any ongoing investigations doesn't matter.
Only scenario in which she CANT go to worlds is if investigation is over before it, and she is found guilty and DSQ. And even in that case it will depends on length of DSQ.

But personally, i don't think she will go to world anyway. She need some easy time + right now shows already starting in Russia + there will be Channel One Cup soon. All this will give her better opportunities to calm up and forget all what happened in Oly.

Do you know if for the next 4 years there is a change in the rules for the short program? Do you think they will allow quads? This could benefit skaters like Alexandra Trusova and encourage them to continue until the next Olympics.

Nothing about that in ISU plans for current congress. I think it will take another few years.

I'm really against this change.
What I really like now that quads are entering the scene is that there is a content difference bewteen SP and FS.
In the FS tech is pushed to the limit, while in the SP you need to go for maximum GOE searching for quality instead of powering your way with more rotations.
Of course 3A is considered ultra-C but it is a triple and it would not make sense to ban it (also going backward is impossible and anticlimatic)

Insert quad and it will be just a minor version of the FS so a lot less interesting.
It is good for the sport to have a Loena second only to Kamila in SP like at EU

Anna attended WTT after Worlds with a busy schedule, she will be there
Trusova should unless she meant waht she said, shell then end her official season

Tuktamsyheva better start landing those quad practices

I think it would be kind of fun if the ISU did allow quads in the short program along with the 3A, but to maintain the whole quality thing of the SP, maybe mistakes in the SP are penalised double or something. Maybe you get more points taken off in the SP for a fall as compared to the FS. Maybe the GOE scale is factored differently in the SP. I don't know.

It just seems kind of "unfair" that the 3A is allowed but quads aren't. Right now an emphasis on quality in the short isn't really being achieved in the short, either, because you have people like Sasha going for the 3A though she doesn't have it consistent yet. If she could go for two quads instead, and knew that she'd get penalised double for a 3A fall or whatever, she might actually get clean short programs more often.

Zagitova went to Worlds post-olympics and she was sick if I remember correctly. I think Shcherbakova will want to go, she has struggled with injuries all season and she is finally in peak form, had she not needed to change boots she was going to do the quad lutz as well at the Olympics. And she has a legitimate shot at defending her world title. Plus she might get to do it in front of an audience, a bit sad her 2 crowning moments have come with little to no audience

Different approach to errors in the 2 programs may be interesting enforcing different strategies, but we shuld beware that the SP also work as a qualifier so we should avoid a single error will take you out situation.

I get the Why Trixel and not quads argument, but a 3A remains triple.
Numbers apart, the Axel is the only forward jump and I would prefer a positive motivation to insert a 3A in a program as a scoring opportunity than having the "at least one jump should be an axel" because anybody will avoid it otherwise.

The only skater with stable quads and 3A is Kamila (more will come), even Sasha have problems with it.
I really like a 3A being the sharpest weapon of the first day along with quads being the power weapon of the last day.
There is more deep and only a true master can employ both with proficiency

I'd love to see Anna defend her World Championship. She's one of the fiercest competitors I've even seen. And it was very sad to see her achievements here overshadowed by COVID and controversies. She seems stoic, but she looked very lonely out there. I loved it when Kaori congratulated her. That was the only "acknowledgement" she had for quite a few minutes.

Besides being another "feather in her cap", if Anna does win Worlds it will have another benefit for me. I won't say it, but the number of "usual" posts before and after Worlds will more than speak for themselves. And you just know they're coming.

3 quads at world will culminate a peak in the right form for her
a glorious season too

I realized Dani g's favorites are winning in a row.
I'm very happy for Anna, hearth of champion, but very sad for Kami and Sasha.
Honestly, she deserved that medal more than any other for her loyalty and trust in TT.

I think it was a mistake that Eteri will accept Trusova back (and we checked yesterday). She had enough with Kamila, Anna, Maiia and Daria in the same group fighting for those Olympic places.

Interesting to know what will happen next season, who will leave? who will take a break?

The Eteri team is safe from the scandal because it has practically the Russian state on its side, with a history of clean athletes for the last eight years, the Valieva case was an accident that will not have much repercussion when it is ruled that the contamination came from the home of Kamila.

P.S. Trusova will need to gift another dog and a large bouquet of flowers to Eteri if she wishes to continue with her after what we saw yesterday.

I don't know why but I'm not allowed to post in Fanfest, so I'll leave it here.
It's a letter of 6 y. o. Kamila adressed to Ice Fairy.
It says "Ice Fairy, I want everything to go well in my program. Valieva Kamila"

Has anyone noticed that Eteri is never with Anna? She didn’t even take a picture with her after the free skate. She was not with her at the kiss & cry. I get the impression that something is off in their relationship. The way Eteri hugged Anna after she had become OGM was so cold.

Also, the IG accounts of team tutberidze and Daniil deleted posts about the medalling ceremony, I find this unfair to Anna. I understand the situation but she deserves this medal and the recognition.
