Figure skating is tainted. It remains to be seen if it is ruined.
It was tainted after SLC. It was tainted after foot tapping at Worlds. It was probably tainted in other ways before that I'm not aware of. All we can do as fans is to put pressure on TPTB to make it more fair. I don't think it can ever be completely fair/unbiased/impartial because judges are human.

And scores especially on the PCS end tend to be impressionistic and subjective and somewhat reputation driven.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Alysa takes the route of Karen Chen and leaves for a year or two before returning.
I don't think that was Karen's decision. IIRC it was boot problems. But Alysa does have time to do that as well.

Phoebe Stubblefield lands a 3A. She’s a member of the US National Development Team.

Did you tweet Tom Z's video without giving attribution??

Or were you really there in person too -- filming your own version???

I think TZ would be happy for anyone to see his video of his longtime student.
But if someone is reposting his video, I find it weird not to credit him as the source of the video.

Here's Tom Z's Instagram post from an hour or two ago:

I've always thought two separate panels of judges might help, depending...
I'd be interested in further details of the separate technical and artistic programs which they've been talking about for ages...

I apologize, I totally forgot to give credit to the source.

Lindsay Thorngren won silver at the Challenge Cup, scoring 131.35 in the FS. While she made the required Senior FS TES, she missed the SP FES 30.00 requirement by 3.09. She doubled and stepped out of the lutz, and so had no combo.

US junior ladies Elyce Lin-Gracey and Katie Shen were 5th and 8th respectively. Both secured the Junior TES minimums for both SP and FS.

Lest anyone wonder, Thorngren earlier had achieved both TES minimums for Senior Worlds, thanks to her results at 2021 Warsaw Cup.

She was not in the same boat as Malinin, who was truly dependent on his SP at Challenge Cup to acquire his SP minimum for Worlds.

watched the Olympic girls on the today show. it was filmed after all the events and right before the gala. all three girls said at different points they were excited to go to worlds! i guess we’ll see who gets back to training quickly for worlds
Karen has an Instagram up breaking in new boots.

Lindsay's FS was fantastic! Blinding speed, all jumps rotated (and the panel at Challenge Cup was tough!)

I agreed. Karen posted a picture of her injured ankle on instagram right after LP at Olympics. Perhaps US Fed should replace Karen with Lindsay? I know Amber is World alt #1 but Lindsay is clearly has more potential to be on Olympics team 2026. It's time to give Lindsay more chance to compete internationally.

Apparently there are no Russians allowed in France for the world championships. If you take out the Russians at the olympics, Alysa would be fourth. Alysa would be a contender for a worlds medal/world champion?? :love2:

I would have no problem getting Lindsay some experience and Karen sitting this one out since she didn't exactly show the world she was the one who should have even skated in the TE event let alone the bombing the singles event. Time to move on to the next generation.

100% agree with you. Lindsay and Alysa are the same age. Both are 16. Why they keep Lindsay at junior level for so long? Lindsay should be given senior grand prix, not junior GP last season. If US seriously wants to compete against Russians, Japanese and South Koreans, they really need to let Lindsay to compete at World NOW, not later. It's time to build up her confidence and senior international experience.
