Andrei Mozalev

They visibly took weight off Ignatov at the beginning of this season which stabilized him for a few months & allowed 4-quad program, at least for the GP's duration. That's probably what they are aiming for here with Mozalev? I also take it as a sign that he might have stopped growing(?) and they can experiment with his weight with a higher safety margin.

Well, it would be incredibly cool to see four quads from Mozalev or his returned 4F. In any of these cases, he loudly declares himself as a contender for leadership in the team, because the four quads from Mozalev, along with his choreography and the magic skate, will be rated much better than the four quads from Ignatov. But I don’t make such plans, I will have enough clean (or almost clean) skates.
The last thing he wants to do is go into the low season as a loser :( It`s unlikely that he will be consoled by the fact that he has achieved incredible things this season even with poor form and unsuccessful skates.

I meant in terms of stabilizing his 4S, not 4x4 program, for Mozalev. I really hope to see a competition where he goes as close to clean as possible in the same competition to push into 260’s scoring range reliably. 🌟

Edit: they also took weight even off the women for Olympics.

Dear ladies, I have a pleasant duty to announce that in the near future we will see Andrei at the 1st Channel Cup in Sochi from March 5 to March 7, and on March 8 in Moscow at the gala concert of the Russian Olympic figure skating team.
We are waiting for him at the jumping tournament in "girls vs boys" format (like last year). I hope that in the commercial tournament Andrei will take a risk and try to jump a quadflip, since only he can become Anna Shcherbakova's sparring partner.
Okay, due to various circumstances, the 1st Channel Cup will take place in Moscow, at the CSKA stadium. I like it because the idea flying to Sochi and then to Moscow was a bit iffy.

The dates of the event have changed, the tournament will be held on March 6 and 7, and on March 8 the skaters will show exibition programs on the "Champions of Our Hearts" show.

The jumping tournament will take place on the first day. On the second day skaters will demonstrate they free programs. Apparently, SP will not be shown.

The competition will start at 17:30 msk. The 1st channel will broadcast (that`s so logical, because this is their cup 😅). It is not yet known if there will be a broadcast with Ted Burton's commentary in English.

I saw Mozalev had an IG story yesterday - he showed blades that were engraved with his name (in English). I thought this is quite cool!

Here it is (expires in a few hours):
Yeah, they were engraved before. I was wondering if that meant he had new skates (though one of those skates looked decidedly worn) or if he just lets the guys to advertise? So, I kinda pondered what he was trying to communicate there… and 🤷‍♀️ Probably usual Mozalev’s ‘what I see/people at me, is what I story. Yay, SM presence!’ Heh, someone told me he once storied the ahem… some creative writing with him and Kagiyama, because he doesn’t have a word of English.

Everything has a very simple explanation here. Sergei Mitin travels around the country with his van, where skate blades are sharpened. He came to St. Petersburg on February 25th. Andrei used this opportunity to sharpen the blades of his much-used skates. And the story in IG was posted in order to advertise the company of Sergey Mitin, because Andrei its most famous client.

Wow, I really can't believe they gave us such an amazing opportunity! Seriously, I didn't expect them to do this :jaw:

The sports school where Andrei trains has a new tradition of holding question-and-answer days on Instagram, when a skater or coach answers questions from those who wish through the stories of the school's official IG account within 24 hours. The principal, figure skaters Makar Ignatov and Dmitry Aliev, Liza Nugumanova, coaches Evgeny Rukavitsin and Kirill Davydenko have already answered.

Yep, it's Andrei's Q&A time! :hap10: https://www.instagram.com/stories/academyfkspb/2782372111429740331/

He will be answering questions today, Sunday, and until Monday morning.

Perhaps this is a more benign option for Andrei than a press conference or a TV appearance, since he stays behind the scenes and has time to prepare a decent response. But no matter he can be nervous.

I will be very glad if you take the opportunity and ask your questions. Andrei will be very pleased to know that he is loved far beyond the borders of Russia, this knowledge should support him. You can write not a question, but a wish or a compliment.

However, remember that Andrei knows English very poorly, use a translator and translate into Russian, if it possible. I'm not sure that he will be helped with the translation.

P.S.: I hope that Instagram will not be blocked in Russia to hell today, it will be somewhat insulting

https://www.instagram.com/stories/academyfkspb/2782756562181610899/ here we go! We have 23 hours and 35 minutes to formulate questions and words of love for Andrei It is only necessary to type the text in the box where it is written "Введите текст" and then click "Отправить"- and Andrei will receive a message through the Academy's Instagram.
Attention, the question must be very short, a long message will not fit in the pop-up window.

Omg, awesome! Thank you for the heads up! I will crack open the darn translit as soon as the CRF is done!

I might have broken it… sorry! And I was just getting started. 🤣🤣🤣
It's OK. Andrey may not respond immediately, in addition, he passes the answers to the employee who manages the social networks of the sports school, and only this person posts the answers.
We will not exclude the possibility that there are a lot of questions and Andrey turned out to be very popular

Eh, I don’t hold my breath. The interface doesn’t let me paste from translit, so I have to write it in Latin script. Hard to read, and I don’t expect anyone to do extra work of re-typing it in Cyrillic.

Don`t worry. I hope that they will answer all messages ;) even in a foreign language. This should be very interesting for them as an indicator of the international fame of their athlete.

Oh, it’s in Russian, just in Latin letters. I hate doing it to the guys, because it is so hard to read and won’t feel put off if they summarily ignore my unbridled enthusiasm. 🤣

Well, we have already learned a something interesting about Andrei. He modestly considers his phenomenal abilities, which allow him to perform an endless spread eagle, as gifts from God or nature, and the need to develop them is his duty. He wants to try himself in different styles and will definitely get at least one program with classical music. I suppose when the coach decides that Andrei is old enough and mature enough for this 🤓

This might also mark the first time anyone had ever tried to get an online translator to give them an English word for ‘vyvertnost’’. Heh, but, yup, he was born that way, with flexible ankles, to do the spread eagle on ice.

Yes, this is not an easy task for a translator :palmf: We are dealing with a professional term from the field of choreography, which refers to the special flexibility of somebody`s joints, the ability to literally twist the leg in the opposite direction. I think that there is a similar term in English, but I'm unlikely to pick it up.

Andrei read it and thanked you :) And when asked about learning new quads, he answered with a pictogram that can be read unambiguously in any language: 🤫🤷‍♂️ (I can't talk about it, there's nothing I can do, I'm sorry).

The well-wishing was the most important of my 20 questions anyway, so if they had patience for just one, I am happy that it was the one that they deciphered. Lol.

Grishin brought up his 4F during the RCF, so I have a bad feeling they will feel the pressure to do it, since they haven’t forgotten he could jump it.

Perhaps I did not quite understand clearly: Grishin was sitting in the commentator's booth and commenting the competition, he couldn`t jump 4F, or I'm starting to really regret that I was not in Saransk and didn`t see this  Or did Grishin remember how Andrei landed a quadflip? I didn't listen he carefully.
Boys jumped 4Lz and 4Lo today, which is also a challenge for our guy, but, as far as I remember, none of the Russian guys have jumped in 4F competitions yet, except maybe Alexander Samarin. Anyway, the pressure on Andrei and his coaches is strong, it's obvious that they are struggling with the quadflip problem.
