2022 Worlds Pre-Game Chat

That would be something to see, since the US hasn't won any World medals in pairs since 2002 when Ina/Zimmerman got the bronze.
And for the Olympics, you have to go back to Watson/Oppegard in 1988 (also bronze).

Pairs is my favorite discipline and much as I admire the Chinese and Russian pairs, my 🇺🇸 heart would LOVE to see a US pair on the podium again...even though there would be sort of an * for the medal because the best competitors won't be there.
And for a gold medal we must go back to 1979 to Tai and Randy, my favorite ever pair.

I used to really love Camden but, I just don't trust him like I used to. Unlike Vincent, Camden has been healthy and he can be great, or fall to pieces. I'll have to check this but, was Jimmy in the top 6 at Nationals. I love his passion and this would be the highlight of his career. When we will know the final lineup? Worlds are only Two Weeks Away....
Yes. My man Jimmy was #6. But alternates were Jason, Camden, Jimmy in that order. I don’t see both Jason and Camden turning down worlds. So Jimmy must wait til next year.

What's the question mark surrounding Jason? Other than Nathan, he's been healthy and strong all season long. If the committee comes into play, I'd leave Vincent off the team. He's as hot and cold as they come.
It’s far too late at this stage. The team was named after Nationals. Nathan, Ilia, Vincent.

Is Jason next in line should Nathan decide not to go to Worlds. I'm still in the Nathan will be skipping Worlds and possibly retire and focus on finishing college camp. He is at the TOP of the Mountain and he should stay up there and enjoy the view.

I don't know Elektra, I'm not so sure.

A fully trained and on-point Nathan? I agree, probably unbeatable.

But I'm not so sure that he is completely ready. Since winning the Olympics, he's been on a publicity gauntlet, and don't get me wrong - I don't blame him for that at all. Make hay while the sun shines.

But I haven't heard much about his training during this time. And, as great as Nathan is, he's not invincible, especially if he's not completely on his game. Vincent proved that early in the season when Nathan hadn't done any summer comps and wasn't in peak condition. If Shoma and/or Kagiyama have continued to hone their programs, Nathan could be beaten.
of course nobody is uneatable and anyone can make mistakes, but how many mistakes does Nathan need to make to lose the gold? he still has a huge bv and a good pcs cushion, he can afford a mistake or two, for that to happen Shoma (since we were talking about him) needs to be cleanish and he hasn't been skating a clean free in years. assuming that he goes, the odds are still in Nathan's favour

I always base my predictions and hopes on if they both skate well. It's far less thrilling to see a skater lose after they implode on the World Stage. If both Men skate their best, Nathan is the clear winner. He has proven so at previous worlds and most recently at the Olympics.

And also, maybe because Nathan loves competing. Who knows, this could be his last competition (I hope not!). But it is his last before he resumes his college career. So I think it's obvious why he wants to be there.
Yep. He just said that in a People magazine that he enjoys competing and the whole process. I think he's very undecided right now about retirement and doesn't feel the sense of completion that he thought he would after the OGM. I don't expect him on the GP next season by any means, but him being at worlds makes perfect sense. He's got SOI too and after that school and then he can take time to decide what he wants to do in the next couple years. He's not going to go hang out on TV more than he's absolutely required or go to Oscar parties and go publicly bask in winning an OGM. Just really not his style. Plus actually this was a short season for him again? He didn't get the GPF.

And just because Nathan does not post training videos or you don't hear anything about him training does not mean he's not training hard.... I just don't remember a time when he actually did that at all. And in the past couple years he's very rarely on social media other than to post sponsored posts. 😄

i always base my prediction on what i see during a season, but i wish everyone happy K&C and skate they can be proud of, wheather a like them or not. with men you never know, but i agree with you on the last point: if both skate well Chen has the edge (see what i did here  )over Uno
Well, I’m not so sure about that. Uno may look tasty, but Chen looks rather unappetizing.
at this poing my typos have become legendary       i don't even want to fix that, i'm not the mother of skaters, i'm the mother of typos

He's Super Human....A very special person and a great Role Model.

I have had a feeling in light of world events, that Nathan is going to bring back the requiem program. Rocketman seems too festive now that we have a war going on. This is based on nothing more than my own sleep deprived mind. I have also spent a lot of time in Ukraine threads on two separate forums.

Bringing back "Requiem" never occurred to me but it does sound logical, given the terrible situation. 😢

Re: Ukraine forums, you have company. I've also been spending a lot of time on one of them. Also, you sound remarkably coherent for a sleep-deprived person!

Must be all that practice I get from watching competitions:laugh:

I'm still . Some typos should never be fixed; thanks for the giggles, guys! 😍

OK, one more edit: I didn't see Brendan Kerry's name on the list for AU and am very sad we won't get to see him again...
