Kazuki Tomono

That's cool! I wonder if they're testing this project with Kazuki and are going to expand. I only know Yuzuru did a photo shoot to promote tourism in Sendai, and beyond him and Kazuki, I don't know of anyone else participating. But I would be happy if it was common practice for skaters.
The place from Kazuki's project looks great as a trip destination, BTW. Too bad I live too far away. ^ ^

It seems that this photobook includes three skaters! I'm curious to see who are the other two.

Meanwhile, Kazuki's IG story yesterday:

GUYS!!! KAZUKI HAS BEEN ASSIGNED TO COUP DE PRIMTEMPS!!!!

I'm sooooo happy we'll have another chance to see him competing this season. I so wish I could go and see him live, but unfortunately I can't afford it due to rising cost of living and rocketing energy bills in the UK 😢

Happy for Kazuki! I will watch the stream. 👀

I don't understand JSF's reasoning at all. First they don't announce Challenge Cup entries until a week before the start of the event, and now they announce Kazuki's participation *5* days before the event? Are they mad, or are they trying to convince their skaters that they don't have any fans in Europe willing to come see them? Mega disappointed in the JSF. I might have given CdP a try (though I feel your pain, Kirara, we are hit with the same energy price issue here, have been since autumn...), but 5 days before the event, no way.

Yes, exactly! Everything last minute (flights, accommodation, etc) is more expensive, plus it's harder to take time off work in such short notice. They really make it hard for fans like us who are just regular working people 😩

I wouldn't even need a plane ticket but it's really impossible even to have a car ride.
I'm so sorry because I'd have liked to see him live.

Everybody guess what?! Kazuki is on NowVoice! This is so awesome! Shoma, Keiji and now Kazuki are on it. If only someone could translate what he said in English. It’s too bad that you have to have a subscription to NowVoice in order to hear it because it makes it harder.

Kao Miura withdrew from Worlds, citing injury, and the next substitute is called in:

It's deja vu for Kazuki... assignment at Coupe de Printemps AND substituting for post-Olympics Worlds, just like in 2018.

Wishing him to skate awesome performances at Worlds, just like four years ago, if not even better!

WHOOOOOOAAAAA

I had a feeling this might happen, realistically Kao has been struggling with injury for a while. Still, I didn't want to get my hopes up 😭

I'm so so happy for Kazuki! I wonder if he'll still compete at CdP and if yes, if he'll water down his content.

I know he competed in both four years ago, but he's older now 🧓😆

Edit: He just confirmed on Twitter he'll compete at CdP

Remembering these happy moments from 2018. I was there and was so happy for Kazuki. He was stellar in the short program and so pleased with his small medal. Look at how much younger they all look. I guess because they were!

Hi everyone,
I've been a dormant member but yay, Kazuki at 2 competitions in Europe in 2 weeks!!:jump:

I'd suspected JSF may have assigned him to Coup de Printemps with Kao's injury in mind, as he looks so out of place at CdP especially after his achievements this season (no offence to other 7 skates including Tatsuya Tsuboi, who was 9th in JNat 2021). While Kao explained his injury was new, I think JSF was right for once; it would be quite complicated to send athletes from Japan to Europe at present given Russian airspace closure and the COVID concerns & restrictions remaining in Japan.

I decided only last weekend to go to the Worlds with a faint hope that this might happen, but my friends in Japan had to give up their trip - I'm selling Gold & C2 tickets for Men's at half price in other threads, if you're interested:wink:

The schedule is quite convenient and worth considering if my fellow Kazuki fans wish to make it at the last minute; Men's FS is at 10:55 - 14:50 on Saturday 26th. Hopefully Kazuki will be in the last group (or the second to last at worst), so even a day trip would be possible subject to the transportation availability. From London where I live, easyJet flight arrives at Montpelier at 10am on Saturday @£36. The arena is just 5 minutes away from the airport by car according to Google. Marseille airport has more flights and is connected to Montpellier by Flixbus (about 2 hours at $4) - I'll have to take this route on my way back on Sunday 27th right after the Exhibition.

I didn't even know what NowVoice was, but saw Kazuki's Twitter and immediately downloaded the app while his recording was still available without registration. Rough translation from my vague recollection:

Self-introduction - Kazuki started figure skating nearly 20 years ago as there was an ice rink near his home. He was not an elite skater when he was a novice/ junior. But he didn’t give up and has been slowly making a progress. Now he competes at a global level.
He knew that Shoma, Keiji and some athletes belonging to Central Sports are on NowVoice. He actually had asked Keiji about it shortly before he received an invitation. He is really excited at the opportunity and tried writing a scenario in advance. But now he has started he finds it quite challenging. He's been standing in front of the microphone for an hour recording and deleting.
He ended by thanking listeners and inviting them for questions for the next recordings.

Apparently he had recorded in Japan and the comment section is flooded with messages cheering him for the Worlds, with some genuine questions for him about his hobby, diet, programmes for the next season etc.
