You never know. Anything can happen at the competition.Kazuki World Champion!
I know that the probability of a Gold medal is low, but he's the skater I will root for at these Worlds, with Junhwan Cha too.

Thanks for the translationHi everyone,
I've been a dormant member but yay, Kazuki at 2 competitions in Europe in 2 weeks!!
I'd suspected JSF may have assigned him to Coup de Printemps with Kao's injury in mind, as he looks so out of place at CdP especially after his achievements this season (no offence to other 7 skates including Tatsuya Tsuboi, who was 9th in JNat 2021). While Kao explained his injury was new, I think JSF was right for once; it would be quite complicated to send athletes from Japan to Europe at present given Russian airspace closure and the COVID concerns & restrictions remaining in Japan.
I decided only last weekend to go to the Worlds with a faint hope that this might happen, but my friends in Japan had to give up their trip - I'm selling Gold & C2 tickets for Men's at half price in other threads, if you're interested
The schedule is quite convenient and worth considering if my fellow Kazuki fans wish to make it at the last minute; Men's FS is at 10:55 - 14:50 on Saturday 26th. Hopefully Kazuki will be in the last group (or the second to last at worst), so even a day trip would be possible subject to the transportation availability. From London where I live, easyJet flight arrives at Montpelier at 10am on Saturday @£36. The arena is just 5 minutes away from the airport by car according to Google. Marseille airport has more flights and is connected to Montpellier by Flixbus (about 2 hours at $4) - I'll have to take this route on my way back on Sunday 27th right after the Exhibition.
I didn't even know what NowVoice was, but saw Kazuki's Twitter and immediately downloaded the app while his recording was still available without registration. Rough translation from my vague recollection:
Self-introduction - Kazuki started figure skating nearly 20 years ago as there was an ice rink near his home. He was not an elite skater when he was a novice/ junior. But he didn’t give up and has been slowly making a progress. Now he competes at a global level.
He knew that Shoma, Keiji and some athletes belonging to Central Sports are on NowVoice. He actually had asked Keiji about it shortly before he received an invitation. He is really excited at the opportunity and tried writing a scenario in advance. But now he has started he finds it quite challenging. He's been standing in front of the microphone for an hour recording and deleting.
He ended by thanking listeners and inviting them for questions for the next recordings.
Apparently he had recorded in Japan and the comment section is flooded with messages cheering him for the Worlds, with some genuine questions for him about his hobby, diet, programmes for the next season etc.
I was so excited yesterday about Kazuki going to Worlds that I forgot to comment this news. That's so cool that he now has a NowVoice, I know Shoma and Keiji have it too and it's always an interesting source of info for fans. I hope we get regular translations of Kazuki's NowVoice, like we do with Shoma and KeijiEverybody guess what?! Kazuki is on NowVoice! This is so awesome! Shoma, Keiji and now Kazuki are on it. If only someone could translate what he said in English. It’s too bad that you have to have a subscription to NowVoice in order to hear it because it makes it harder.

Hazarding a guess..with photo shoots and other opportunities..maybe being the second alternate ..wasn't training as hard and this CdP seemed to come out of nowhere..I suspect that seeing his friends at the Olympics..and then not being named 1st alternate..maybe motivation was off..He had mentioned that in his press conference at 4 Continents..Hope he wins on Sunday..and gets to Worlds and does what he is able to do! He will earn points here..which will help his ranking..Not Kazuki's best, he looked a bit insecure, but at least it's CdP and not WC. Good luck to Kazuki in the FS! You can do it, Kazuki![]()
Uh... sorry for commenting again, but this is actually in the rules... SP has required elements, and the required jumps are 1 axel jump (either 2A or 3A), 1 combo of either 4-3, 3-3 or 3-2 jumps, and 1 triple or quadruple jump. So the solo quad getting popped to a double jump means 1 required element was not completed, and therefore receive zero points (the same thing happened to Yuzuru at the 2022 Olympics SP).No points at all for a 2S? I don't understand.
Please don't apologise! Your contribution is very welcomeUh... sorry for commenting again, but this is actually in the rules... But yes, I agree that Kazuki's scores is quite harsh for 1 invalid element. Yuzuru received 95 points for his 2022 Olympics SP and Shoma received 89 points for his 2021 Skate America SP, both of them popped their solo quad to a double there. Yes, there's a 4-2 combo instead of a 4-3... but still.

EDIT: The SP will be on Thursday, starting at 11:15am Central European Time, and the FS will be on Saturday, starting at 10:55am Central European Time. We should know the exact times Kazuki will skate closer to the day, hopefully he'll be in later groups for bothI wonder what days this week are the short and free program for the men? Kazuki has so got this 100%

Kazuki's IG story from yesterday, it says something like 'Coupe du Printemps is over! Next, Worlds!'
I will try not to dwell on the score, because it's absolutely ridiculous. Kazuki got the job done and I'm so, so proud of him. He said when he arrived in Luxembourg, he was very jet lagged - direct flights from Japan to Europe have been suspended so he most likely had to do a long layover somewhere. Plus, he didn't have Hiraike-sensei with him, and he always struggles in competitions in which he's the clear favourite to win (that's why he always flops at regionals lol).
It could have gone horribly wrong but he managed to hold his own and get those 250 world standing points - this bumped him from 16th to 12th in World Standings. That's really good because it means he'll most likely skate in the second to last group in the SP at Worlds
The SP will be on Thursday, starting at 7:15pm Central European Time, and the FS will be on Saturday, starting at 6:55pm Central European Time. We should know the exact times Kazuki will skate closer to the day, hopefully he'll be in later groups for both![]()
