This is the CBC television broadcast of Shoma's long program with Kurt Browning's commentary (no short programs were aired). I had to awkwardly split the video in half because Dailymotion rejected my original file because of the music, but Streamable doesn't accept vids that are longer than 10 minutes for free accounts.

These vids are less significant, but Kurt Browning talks about Shoma in both.

Also, whoever wore the rabbit ears... you made it on the live stream! :p

My heart is still beating ten to the dozen after leaping and screaming. I can't imagine how those of you in the arena are coping. World Champion at long, long, long, long, last. Has Shoma ever looked better??
I am safely back in the US (and finally with reliable WiFi! WiFi please!!! 😆), so I can now detail my thoughts about what it was like there in person.

I was indeed the person wearing the rabbit ears. I was actually surprisingly calm both during the free skate and afterwards! I had really thought it would be as anxiety-inducing as it was during the Moonlight Shomata at 4CC 2019, but it wasn't! (I only felt such a high level of anxiety during the very first group of the men's short program, probably due to the amount of eye contact I was getting from the skaters due to my really good seats.) Lots of good support from the audience, though it's too bad that you can't really clap along with the Sholero. 😆 I was in the area where Shoma was waving to fans in the video posted earlier, but I was behind too many of them to get a good look at him. I did get a good look at him waving at fans and smiling earlier on his way to the kiss and cry, though. I hugged Arriba as I was walking out and congratulated her as well. After ordering a cheese platter and sitting on the asphalt outside the arena, I was overcome with an immense gratitude for Shoma, the crystal palace that is the Sud de France Arena, and the circumstances and people who led me to this place. (For those of you who haven't seen pictures of the arena, it's decorated with an amethyst design on the outside, and that's why I called it a crystal palace. It's also really purple on the inside and I love purple things!) The ruby of a short and the sapphire of a free really suited this place. Heck, upon first entering the building I got the sense of "This feels like a good place for Shoma." It just felt like the right place and the right time for Shoma (and I know Arriba feels the same way). There was even an anime convention happening nearby! Again, it felt right to see cosplayers wandering around near the arena. I wonder if Shoma was tempted to go there and cosplay after he skated. 😆

And now it's time for some slightly more concrete observations. After finally watching that free performance again... no, I genuinely don't think he's looked better than this, despite the mistakes. In fact, those mistakes are kind of endearing, with the double toe we've been nagging him about all season long and that hilarious little single flip! 😆 Normally, I would be annoyed by something like that, but there was something oddly joyful about the way in which he did it! He just embraced the mistakes and just kept on going! Maybe the mindset of no expectations and a lot of hope I had allowed me to just embrace the performance as it was. I think Shoma may have had the same type of mindset going into this too... Honestly, I'm starting to think that "no expectations and a lot of hope" is a good way to go about one's daily life in general!

In short, I'm primarily just glad to have been there for Shoma and to have sent all your kind thoughts to him. I'm very proud of him for finally becoming a world champion too. Maybe I'll be ready to go todo loco for our numero Uno once I celebrate with my Japanese conversation group next week. 😆

Stéphane is doing a workshop in Scotland April 5-7 (saw it on his Instagram), so that may be part of the consideration for which country Shoma goes to when...
I don't envy them navigating all the international schedules! lol
Oh my gosh, so this was for real! A lady I started talking to (sitting next to me during the ladies' SP) said she was from Scotland. She said she's been a judge for years and works for Scottish figure skating. She was excitedly saying Stephane was coming to do a workshop for 3 days. I love it!!!

Old photo, but this warms my heart to see his kindness towards little kids. He still remembers how at one time he was the starstruck little kid who loved Daisuke Takahashi! He is still the same kind guy today, with a slight difference -- HE'S A WORLD CHAMPION!!!!
🏅 :party2::hap10::bsplit::jaw:

Shoma was recently asked what spirit animal would he choose to be and he said he's satisfied with himself so he's just going to stay Shoma Uno.

The 4 pups with Shoma is the content I need until there are show videos, of course.
This is the video the spirit animal response was taken from. Such a wonderfully Sho-like answer. 😊

They look so mature. They grew up together in the competitive scene  I hope Satoko and Shoma continue to be healthy and happy, in everything they chose to do.

Shoma's message to Satoko:
We know each other since we were kids and I looked up to Satoko and hoped to be able to compete in international events just like you and I cheered for you together with my family. It’s not possible for me to understand everything in your mind but if you felt satisfied with your career, I am happy for you.
All the skaters including me have faith in you that you will overcome every obstacles in front of you so good luck to you. I will keep my skating journey and make it impress people that “Hey he is still skating there.”

The WORLD CHAMPION has arrived for Stars on Ice practice. He said Nathan told him "Congratulations champion!". Awwww! !! to both of them!!!

I read another translation on Twitter that mentioned that this congratulatory message from Nathan was done in private.

Having seen the number of people congratulating Shoma in person at Worlds (myself among them) and being aware of just how private a person Shoma is, having a private congratulation from Nathan, whom Shoma admires and wants to be more like, feels especially meaningful.

Honestly, the people on Twitter who think that this is like a high school love confession are being ridiculous. 😆
