Shoma!! He's such a brat 🤣 The way Hama-san didn't even flinch when Shoma threw the jacket at him!! That definitely was NOT the first time that happened 😂 It's amazing how he looks like he's about to pass out from tiredness yet lands a 4Lo the next second! One of a kind for sure - and not a morning person 😁
I'm loving Shomity already!! Obviously it's still a work in progress but he looks very comfortable with it already, compared to Sholero for example at this stage. It's gonna be a great program!!

Shoma falls asleep on the ice...
Shoma has an epic fall on the split flip...🤣
And then Shoma just goes and does quads with the greatest of ease!

This contrast between silly Shoma and serious Shoma always makes me love him more. 😍

He needs to have a program with an "O" in the title. Somehow ShOlero, ShOboe, Moonlight ShOmata, ShOmbardia all sound natural. Shomity isn't doin' it for me. Maybe ShoGravity. Ah, such a dilemma.

I'm gonna go with Shomity until I see a better suggestion  I also saw Shovity but someone said it reminds them of "shoving" too much and I have to agree 😄

How about Shomavity? 😛

Hey, Ladies in Lavender and Great Spirit didn't have any Os in them and they worked out well for Shoma. 😁 Let's hope that Gravity is good for him...

Shoma said this program has a mature feel, and I think he looks very manly, suave and kinda reflective when he does it 😊, so I have been thinking of it as his Shomature program in the interim until another name is decided 🤣

He's such an incredibly hard worker even in the off season. He seems really strict with himself. So glad he has the headspace to act silly and not always sho mature 😂 It's a real treat to see bits of levity alongside more and more bits of his Gravity!

Sholevity and Shogravity, I like the way your thought process is working here. 😉 Although it seems to me like he's only just now coming into the mature side of himself.

And with regards to your curiosity about what it was like seeing the Moonlight Shomata in person, it was incredibly nerve-wracking. 😱 Shoma had a severe ankle sprain at the time and his short program performance had appeared very tentative (on video, I was only there for the free program). Furthermore, I was scared that Shoma could potentially trip over an unnoticed piece of debris from a poorly wrapped bouquet of striped carnations that I had thrown at Keiji Tanaka just before Shoma's group warmed up...

I had thought that Shoma's music would calm me down, like it had at the Grand Prix Final the year before (my first live skating tournament ever). Nope, that didn't happen...

What I remember about that performance was how he just kept muscling through after landing the last jump of one of his combination jumps, even though the landing didn't seem 100% stable!

He collapsed on the ice towards my side of the arena. It was very sudden, but I felt it was because he'd given everything he could possibly give to that performance. 😭

That score also wasn't just a personal best, it was actually a world record at the time! I mean, I actually shouted "Holy crud, that's a freaking world record!" when the score popped up on the Jumbotron screen. 😂 That record quickly got broken by a couple of other skaters at Worlds a few weeks later, but it felt good to think of Shoma Uno as a world record holder for those few weeks... I wonder if he'll be able to break a world record again...🤔

Yes, Sho had a rough SP. He was in 4th and Vincent was in 1st with a 9 point lead. I was so nervous, I can only vaguely remember what happened. So he was under quite a bit of pressure for the FS. I was so afraid he would have a repeat of his J-Nats performance where in the SP, he did that cool knee slide move, but he lost control of the move and went spinning around! I think his ankle bothered him a lot more than he let on that season. Anyway, Vincent had a bit of a disaster in the free (LOTS of under-rotations) and was 5th, Sho was 1st. He really left it all on the ice and was totally relieved when he was finished. So happy he came in 1st and glad I made the effort to go to the competition. Little did any of us know that Covid was coming, and the next season, so many competitions were cancelled or held without an audience.

Thank you so much @yuumagical and @Arriba627 for recounting your experiences :love2:

I think had I been there (and had I been a fan back then), I would've been a complete nervous wreck, and then would've probably screamed myself hoarse with joy when he was vindicated for his determination and grit by that amazing achievement in the end 😂

What an amazing experience! I am not sure though if my constitution is strong enough for so much excitement. I was already a nervous wreck just watching the recent Worlds online, and not even in real time 🤣 (and thankfully he wasn't even injured then, as far as I know).

I vividly recall screaming until my throat got hoarse at 4CC 2019 due to all the amazing performances (including Shoma's, of course!), so your thoughts weren't too far from my reality. 😂

Please don't be scared of getting too nervous! It happens to everyone! I know of a couple of good strategies to combat nervousness at tournaments:

1. Breathe deeply. Repeat as needed.
2. Move to an open seat further away from the ice. The ice resurfacing period is an ideal time to do this, though it can be done between performances if you are quick enough. Somehow the increased physical distance helps to mentally distance me from my nervousness.

I genuinely think Shoma is best appreciated live, so I hope you are brave enough to see him perform someday!

I attended the last PIW just now.
I could see PERFECT Shogravity .
4T3T, 4T, 3A I think.
I felt it was not a show for Shoma but a competition.
He was soooooo kakkoii.
I’d like to have screamed again.
:dbana::dbana::dbana:

It is about time to take photos.
I thought my eyes met Shoma.
Everybody was busy taking photos of the members, but I was just waving “our” banner.
I wished to have two more hands to take Shotographs.:laugh2:

I met a friend who is a figure skating fan.
She attended SOI with her mother and it was their first time to watch it live.
It was a good experience for them to see it in person because they could recognize who has good skating skills. (I mean speed and rink coverage.)
They said Shoboe was the best performance of the show and Shoma was much better than Nathan.
Shoma had a champion’s aura.
(Sorry, Nathan. Maybe because they saw Space Song not Rocket Man. It depends on what program you see.)

Shoma is SO lucky to have Demi-san as part of his team. He really helps him stay in top shape! The words "12 performances finished without injury!" Many thanks to Demi-san!
There's a thankful tone to that message that really comes across in the original Japanese. 😊 "12 performances safely completed without injuries! I'm glad my athlete finished without injury!" He then thanks the guests, cast members, staff, and all the spectators. I'm so glad that Shoma is in good hands. 😁

Thanks for the dog video too, it's actually a really cute one. 🥰 It's always good to see a bunch of dogs piling on Shoma. 😆

Whatever Shoma is paying Demi-San he needs to double it. Staying injury free is amazing considering the potential for getting hurt on ice is infinite!
