Kazuki Tomono

You have to love Kazuki's energy. :)
I wonder which GP he'll get assigned to? I hope they manage to find the 6th host (the one that would sub for China).
In the pre-covid days and before my health issues..I would have already had plans to go to Skate America, Skate Canada and the International FS Classic..But..alas..I would love for Kazuki to get assigned Skate America..He has a lot of fans here in the US and I have friends who are going..Plus..he could tour Boston!

Meanwhile..I have been looking for this for quite some time..Kazuki's FS from Japanese Nationals, 2019..I had seen snippets..but not the whole thing including his emotional reaction in the kiss/cry.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vz5UIbd9dww
YASSSSSS 🔥 Thank you so much, kwanette! If anyone here is a newer Kazuki fan, PLEASE watch this video, watch it until the end. To put it in context, he had had a really rough first half of the season, and overall really rough time after Milan 2018, so this was the first time all the hard work he had been putting on since he started working with Misha 'clicked', that's why he was so emotional.

Meanwhile, Quadruple Axel posted a little clip of Kazuki, if I understood correctly he says this season he wants to fight in the world stage among the top skaters?

Also, Shoya Ichihashi posted a pic with Kazuki and Shoma on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/CftgruKhlh9/

You are welcome..and thank you!! He was so upset after his sp at Jpn Champs in 2019..as he left the K/C he punched his leg..and then sweet redemption! Watch his reaction to his sp ..so sad.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoNpyH5qE9c Such an impressive comeback..I mean 1/2 pt behind Hanyu? Not too shabby..

It seems that the annual Team Japan training camp finished today, with skaters giving statements to the press. Here's a nice article about Kazuki: https://hochi.news/articles/20220709-OHT1T51107.html?page=1

Kazuki Tomono's new SP "Happy Jazz" is "actually the first uptempo"

The all-Japan training camp for figure skating was held at the Karuizawa Kazakoshi Park Ice Arena in Nagano on the 9th, and Kazuki Tomono (Uenoshiba Skating Club), who was 6th in the world championships, participated.
The short program (SP) will be "Happy Jazz" and the free will be "Die Fledermaus Overture". "I have my own personality, but the theme is to try a genre that I haven't done before. This year, every player has finished the Olympic season, and I think I'll make the song I wanted to try and the genre I want to try. "Short is actually the first uptempo. Free is a comical taste, so it's a classic but personality program," he said.
Last season, he won a silver medal at the Four Continents Championships and finished sixth in the World Championships. "I broke a thick thick wall a little and shed a little light. I want to be called a top player so that I can completely break the wall firmly," he said with enthusiasm for the new season.

I think Rainbow says it's until 10th, so maybe today was just a press day?
I don't know, I'd say LLL, The Hardest Button, and Zigeunerweisen were quite uptempo also? :scratch2:

https://mainichi.jp/articles/20220709/k00/00m/050/200000c American ice dancer Zach Donohue working w the Japanese skaters..w a quote from Kazuki..
The summer camp is four days from Jul. 7 to 10, and Jul. 9 was a media day.

Translation of above article:
(At the training camp), I can improve with the skaters I will be competing against this season. In terms of expression, I learned how to control my body from Zachary Donohue, an ice dancer from the United States. To be honest, I myself think that Japanese skaters tend to be a little less delicate and refined than their Western counterparts. I would like to absorb and polish my good points.

Last season, I saw the light shining through the thick walls that had been broken down in my mind (podium at Grand Prix Series, 2nd place at 4CC, etc.). This season, I want to break down that wall firmly. I want to be known as a top skater. Figure skating is changing (due to rule changes, etc.), and I want to stay on top of the changes. I hope I can compete in a way that makes the most of my past experience.

Thank you @rRainbow for the clarification and translation! :thank:
I also found this thread with the translation of some his quotes, including a bit about his current skating club which I thought it was quite touching - he's such a sweetheart.

@kwanette Thanks for the quote re: Zach Donohue! Kazuki always got on well with male ice dancers, I remember a few years ago he got praised by *the* Scott Moir.

@surimi If there is a GP in England, I'll definitely look into going! But it'll depend on the prices v my personal finances 😭
