Olympic champion of Beijing in women's single skating Anna Shcherbakova will fly to Germany on August 17 and will be operated on in a German clinic. This was announced to TASS on Tuesday by Alexander Kogan, Director General of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR).
Earlier, Shcherbakova said in her social networks that a long-standing knee injury does not allow her to train at full strength, and in a few days she will have surgery.
"Anya will really be operated on, tomorrow she is flying to Germany, they are sending her to a clinic whose specialists have already helped Russian figure skaters many times," Kogan said. "We hope for her speedy recovery."
"The injury bothered her for a long time, but while she was preparing for the Olympic Games, it was not possible to completely stop it. We hoped that she would have a rest in the summer, special procedures were carried out for her, she flew abroad for this, but there were few chances that she would help without traditional intervention," added the Director General of FFKKR.
All the best for her. Hope our German doctors are doing a good job. But it probably shows that the skaters don´t care much about the upcoming season. Both Alena and Anna were doing shows and having surgery afterwards. Can´t blame them. Wishing all the best to both of them.Anya will have surgery in few days, and obviously will be skipping test skates

TSL.can do one! I don't watch or take any notice of their nonsense! They're vileGuys its feeling like deja vu from last season, TSL is going to have a heyday. She gets the * on my list.![]()
Yes, agreed Anna has overcome everything thrown at her. I hope she overcomes this as wellDammit, just saw the bad news about Anna. Get well soon.
Since it’s Anna, she will return as good as ever because Anna overcomes everything. That’s why she is Anna. Legend.
And a get well soon to Kostornaia as well. Yes, I’ve had some battles with her supporters, but I do not want to see anybody get hurt. Hopefully she comes back as good as new.

Zhenya and Anya with Nikita
) I think this is how it will be next season in skating. I still can´t imagine a GP, EC and WC without Anna and Mishki

I think Kamila is on track. They only do the SP for test skates right?Interesting if any of the top line will participate at September's sessions.
Anna and Alyona are out with surgeries, Sasha does everything except skating, Kamilla seems to be more show-oriented.
Looks like only Liza is on her track.
They present both, short and long programI think Kamila is on track. They only do the SP for test skates right?
She probably just needs to restore her 4T which is her best jump to win the Russian Nationals.
