Although expected, this is still extremely disappointing. I never fully appreciated how spoiled we were with Ice Network and NBC Sports Gold being able to watch events in their entirety whenever and however we wanted. So much easier than the ABC/ESPN days when we programmed a VCR or DVR to watch just limited coverage that often excluded the short programs and even one or two of the four disciplines ... not to mention fast forwarding through the seemingly endless commercials! Can't believe this is what we must resort to again to be able to watch any figure skating at all.

Although Peacock offers far more than just figure skating, the live streaming only option will certainly not help their subscription numbers. Once they see how few people are actually streaming figure skating especially the overseas competitions that will occur when most of us are sleeping or working, I cannot imagine they will be compelled to focus much on the sport online. We will also never see full event coverage of lesser events from regionals to even the Grand Prixs on over the air TV - there was never a market for that even during skating's heyday.

Are other sports available for streaming on Peacock after the fact? For example, if I missed last week's NBC Sunday Night Football game, can I log into Peacock to watch it now? I ask because I am trying to gauge just how many other sports this is an issue for. Was figure skating an exception for being able to watch on demand or an exception now for no longer being able to?

NFL is extremely popular though, probably not the sport to use for comparison.

Speed skating replays go back to 2021 and Supercross replays go back to February 2022. Swimming Nationals, Worlds and Proseries replays are available for the summer of 2022. I don't see any replays for Football.

I am so old I dont even buy green bananas! You never know when you wont wake up at my age!

I know how to work a rotary dial phone and a phone on a party line.
I have two cars with clutches (and of course three motorcycles with them although that is not a given anymore)
I know how to tune up a car with points, plugs and condensor (and even dual points!)
Of course, I cant text with two thumbs, either
But I love learning from the kids and teaching them things from the 1800s....
In order to get my FCC license to be able to run a broadcast station, I had to go to Downtown Chicago and take a test. There were questions about vaccum tubes on the test.....how many here remember tube testers in drug stores?

Good one! On one hand, once an entity sells the broadcast rights without stipulations, they seem to not care. But what if they sold the rights WITH stipulations.....? I have rabbit ears and a DVR. I would love to purchase all those oddball channels I never watch to watch skating , for a week or a month or ?
Tomorrow I will purchase three days of Japanese TV for $3 and in December I will purchase a few weeks or a month and guess what? In both cases, I get 56 channels live and on demand for two weeks after the broadcast....what a concept. Watching TV when YOU want to see it.

My Capt. in the state patrol, who I have lots of respect for, always said to us techs, troopers, crime lab people, etc , "Look, dont lie to me or hide anything. Just be honest and we will work through it" In this case, USFS Needs to cowboy up and tell the truth from their point of view and so does NBC. Or say, On advice of council, we can not tell you the reasons why we can not provide after the fact streaming.

LOL! Well, the docs ARE giving me fountain of youth drugs and they do seem to be working (y) .....I am sure lots of older folk here camp out 30 days a year, have 140 mph motorcycles, ( not that I would ever take them that fast, of course......) Hike in the Bighorn mountains, and walk 6 miles a day........but I do get winded hiking at 9,000 ft..My beautiful young galpal leaves me every weekend to go to dog events ..and if I eat too much bacon, salmon ommlettes and banana bread French toast for breakfast on the cruises, I have to speed walk an extra half hour a day on the promanade deck. So THERE! :rofl: 🧑‍🦽🥓

We have to keep up pressure on them. Not just give up and roll over.
I don't know the answer to your second question
We can watch (including replays) ISU coverage of most events. Not US Nationals (most likely, although the ISU did broadcast them last year).
The problem we are going to have is that we are paying so little that even if all of us drop Peacock it's not going to be that meaningful to them.
And I mean I could quit donating the (extremely small) amounts I donate. But that would only hurt the athletes. Guess I can donate to the athletes directly.
Our access to figure skating hasn't been this bad since before Ice Network started so....25 plus years?

No worries....I am now hooked up with Japanese TV and I will somehow see skating.......
I understand busy......I am taking care of a blind deaf ancient senile dog for my gal pal, cutting down trees, trimming trees, shreding limbs, splitting wood, picking up pine cones, laying down chips on a 3/4 mile path, mowing the lawn, and trying to keep 3 chain saws, a tree trimmer, a lawn mower, a splitter, and a chipper working. All before the snow flys. Oh, I forgot to pre-flight the snow blower.... :(

Yeah....my hope is that I can find a VPN that works at 10 Meg download speed and I can get ISU coverage without two (censored) yaking nonsense during the skating.....imagine if you will, Tara and Johnny yaking during Ami Nakai's Miss Saigon.....:eek2::poop:😭🤬

I promise you that I will set you up with a very fast VPN. I can't promise that there will be no commentary, but I can get you to at least, watch the skating.
