Nathan Chen

Nathan mentioned as one of Aleksandr Selevko's inspirations.
“In fact, I like a lot of skaters,” said Selevko, “or some specific programs or some of their qualities. Nathan Chen – you can’t even describe him (he is so good)...

Nathan recently spoke about his Olympic experience. Nothing particularly surprising except that he was promoting his new partnership with Invisalign!

Somewhat related, Nathan is listed as one of the most marketable athletes for 2022! He is the only figure skater on the list.

Here is a photo of the Chen family, with some excerpts from his book.

Another article where Nathan speak on the Olympic doping controversy. At the end he elaborates bit on his partnership with Invisalign.
Regarding his partnership with Invisalign, Chen said, “Growing up, I was never really super confident in my smile, so having this opportunity to partner with Invisalign and get their treatment is huge. I’m really excited to transform my smile. It made total sense for me given I still find myself at the rink, training and performing, and this doesn’t have any conflict with being able to perform.”

Nathan announces the start of preorders for his children's book. There is also a new description on Amazon.
It’s real! I’m so excited to share that my picture book #WeiSkatesOn is now available to preorder! The book is illustrated by the incredibly talented @lorrainenam, who really brought this story to life.

Wei Skates On is about finding the joy in sports, no matter the outcome. This book means so much because it captures everything that makes skating so special to me — the freedom I feel on the ice, the ways it's strengthened my relationship with my mom, the people it's brought into my life. I hope it inspires you to hang on to the joy in whatever you do, too.
Olympic gold medalist and three-time World Champion Nathan Chen delivers an inspirational picture book about facing your fears and finding the joy in sports, no matter the outcome.
Wei has loved ice-skating ever since his first visit to the rink. He loves gliding across the ice, taking flight on jumps, and moving with the music—there’s nothing else like it!
But as Wei’s first big competition draws near, he begins to worry. He’s been training hard, but what if he doesn’t win? With help from Mom, can Wei find a way to handle his nerves? What would it feel like to skate without the pressure of winning?
As the first Asian American man to win gold in figure skating, Nathan Chen is a celebrated role model for kids who want to shine on and off the ice. His uplifting message of positivity and perseverance makes this story the perfect choice for social emotional learning at home or in the classroom.

Nathan has been nominated for the 2022 Yahoo! Japan Search Awards in the Athletes category. He is the only non-Japanese athlete nominated, and one of only two non-Japanese nominees in any category.

Nathan discusses Invisalign, Utah, and future plans.

Interview where he is asked about competing at the next Olympics
“It’s such an amazing experience and something that no matter how well you skate or perform, it’s an experience that you will remember for the rest of your life. So I would love to have another opportunity to do that,” Nathan said. “But right now, of course, my focus is on getting through school which is taking up the bulk of my time. Once I finish that, I’ll spend a little more time and decide where I’m at from a skating perspective.”
