Well I think its safe to say Shcherbakova won't be competing at Nationals, she's going to be doing Navka's shows in St. Petersburg starting the day after Nationals. She did mention last week that recovery was going well but that they weren't rushing anything so treatment wasn't in vain. The article is a bit confusing because 1 line she mentions 'can not give loads to the leg' but then says she remembers double jumps' - not sure if these were just standard translation funkiness that happens with Google

Show announcement
Article Regarding Recovery

Drama, and pandemonium, aplenty between the returning Talalaikina and Little Liza it seems.

I’ve been reading that The Fed is mulling over a “code of conduct” for skaters, coaches, choreographers, etc in an attempt to stop everyone from yapping away to the press about internal issues.

Well, the code is an approach typical of contemporary Russia. Problems are not addressed, it is simply forbidden to talk about them. Athletes should work, not think of themselves and certainly not stand up for their rights or defend themselves against inappropriate treatment. On the contrary, they are instructed to seek the cause of problems within themselves. This code is just ridiculous. He seems particularly ridiculous when you look at what Zhelaznikov, for example, says in public. Not to mention the rest of the Figure Skating Beau Monde. Reading the gruel these people churn out day after day in the Yellow Press a la Sports.ru makes you nauseous on a regular basis.

You do know that there are code of conducts in all professions and that they exist outside of Russia as well, right?

Leaks happen outside of Russia too.

For me personally, a lot of the fun in following the sport is the off ice drama and name calling.

Plus it keeps the forum active. You can only talk about a tight camel spin that much.

Most sports have a system in place to punish players if they criticise for instance an umpiring decision, the league itself, speak in a way that conflicts with a league’s values or ideologies they are pushing onto people. Disrespecting opponents if not punished by a league itself will certainly be rebuked internally by a team as it creates a distraction, reflects badly on the team, provides opposition with more motivation, etc.

The penalties are fairly minor though and is more about a federation feeling they have to be seen in control. Sasha is driving a big greasy late model Merc tank she can barely see over the dashboard while driving I don’t think the fines will discourage her took much.

Hahaha.

I laughed so hard reading this. Tremendous.

And you yourself know that this is (once again) a comparison of apples and oranges?
I'm not under the illusion of convincing the unteachable, but a nice summary for everyone else who might not know what this is all about:

The code of ethics in figure skating is absurd: it does not solve problems, but prohibits talking about them

It is interesting (and significant) that you only speak of athletes and not of coaches or association representatives, for example. Let's take a look at who actually cast a bad light on Russian figure skating. These were primarily FFKKR and Tutberidze. Not that it would have been enough to bring an athlete who was ..... to the start. No, the athlete was NOT withdrawn from the competition after the positive ...... test became known and was thus thrown at the press in full awareness of the circumstances. That's what I call responsibility and acting ethically towards an athlete (who is also a minor). It is clear that the behavior of the press is unworthy, but this is not at issue here. The fact that at the same time a huge support campaign was launched across Russia on practically all state channels and the West was accused of having staged everything while presenting itself as a victim, shows complete ignorance and denial of reality. THAT and Tutberitze's reaction to Kamila's crappy freeskate damaged the image of Russian figure skating in the world more than anything else. Sasha's completely understandable reaction to the absurd scoring and Anja's complete lack of emotion at the moment of victory due to her own insight into the completely absurd situation were just the icing on the cake.

Of course, it's always amusing to witness the social envy of Dacia drivers live. But I can calm you down. The GLS belongs to Sasha's mother. Personally, I find it very pragmatic to give a novice driver a used car with a higher seating position to give a better overview. Later, when Sasha drives a little more safely, she might be entrusted with an Omoda C5.

You only quoted half my post.

You skipped the second part where I said the trash talking and off ice drama is part of the fun since it gets boring talking about the rotations of a camel spin.

It’s absolutely hilarious reading these articles.

The Talalaikina - Little Liza drama is a soap opera come to life.

My opinion is that this is just paperwork. There are too many eyes on this sport for things to not leak. People will find a way to get their message out.

Well, mom’s insurance about to go through the roof. Haha

Mom needs to start taking it out of Sasha’s skating purses.

I had to look up a Dacia. I learn something new everyday. Sasha’s mother has done well good for her. Sasha can probably buy one they’re probably throwing money at her to take part in the Grand Prix then all the shows, Chinese fans outcompeting probably sending cash in envelopes.

I don’t judge Eteri too harshly for the Olympics the whole situation was a mess with the zero covid policy, isolating everyone, completely crazy in retrospect, otherwise Kamila’s mother would be there.

Was Eteri supposed to be a human shield when Kamila was walking past the press. Shouldn’t the press not behave like wild animals.

Asking why Kamila gave up I thought was fine because she gave up. Eteri was in her corner she wanted Kamila to push through and take the bronze even though it would deprive her two other skaters from receiving their medals. That’s how much she wanted to see Kamila get on the podium. You work with someone 6 days a week for most of the day you hate to see someone give up on maybe their only chance of an individual medal in their life. It was not the time for Eteri to become emotional they had to get through the kiss and cry.

We certainly don't have to worry about Sasha's finances. I think I read not long ago that she is currently the highest paid figure skater in Russia. Still, I feel sorry for her (and everyone else) that due to the apparent insanity of a former KGB agent, she's not reaping the vastly greater monetary rewards she's worked so hard to achieve. But whining is useless. Other people not only lose money and medals through this madness, but their husbands, wives, children or other family members. And also their livelihood.

Well, how I judge that or how you judge that doesn't matter, because that wasn't up for discussion. It was originally about the code of ethics, which is intended to protect the international reputation of Russian figure skating from reputational damage by the athletes by muzzled them and which of course(!) was immediately coined on Trusova. I then merely set out who actually harmed the reputation and this is a fact. Tutberidze's behavior was criticized around the world, not only by commentators but also by big-name connoisseurs of the scene. I only remember Kati Witt and Alyona Savchenko, both of whom were completely stunned.
I'm not even going to talk about the impression it makes to let an athlete who has tested positive start anyway.

And as I said. Of course the behavior of the press was shameless (also towards Sasha, which strangely enough was not worth criticism for the TT fans here in the forum), but IT WAS 100% PREDICTABLE and it was consciously accepted by FFKKR and TT.

I don't want to say the unmentionable and get a strike so I will be very careful here. The timing of everything that happened contributed to this don't you agree? The timing could not have been worse for Kamila. I could be talking about anything here the result of a covid test in Beijing please don't join the dots.

People seem to overreact when it's figure skaters and doubly so if Russians. The narrative is female figure skaters are frail and vulnerable and psychologically weak, and Russians are abusive monsters.

I reject this. Eteri's girls are beasts.

They might look beautiful and vulnerable on the ice but these women are complete competitive monsters I think they'd all give a Michael Jordan in his prime a run for his money (the Russian girls anyway not sure about elsewhere). Kamila seems to me the most competitive of all of them. She's training nonstop at the moment it might be all in vain if she's a victim of decisions out of her control, but she'll fight to the end. She hasn't lost any hunger I think she's as hungry as going into an Olympic year right now.

If she is able to skate at the Russian Nationals, pulls off clean skates with ultra-c it's probably the greatest moment in figure skating history (in my mind anyway which is what matters lol).
