Congratulations Shoma for the Skate Canada win!!! Wow wow wow, that really went down to the wire. He fought hard today! Not perfect, loads of work to do based on the protocols, but he worked for every point. And still, his Aria is so gorgeous. And he stayed on his feet through SP and FS! The 4T3T did show up in the FS, so now he just needs to make it show up both in the SP and the FS.

Also, congratulations Kao! He really gave Shoma a run for his money, and if he didn't fall on the 4S today he might just have won it. But that's surely the GPF ticket secured for him, and that's an amazing result especially that he had back-to-back GPs! He ended last season with performances that were impacted by his injury at Junior Worlds (made him miss Worlds as well), so happy to see him do well here.

I hope everyone who were there in person enjoyed their time!!! Can't wait to hear reports from @Arriba627 and @yuumagical !

so happy! he Looked really good out there. We know he’s capable of even more, so get exited! I’m sure he’ll look even better at the NHK! It seems like the quad toeloop is the issue right now. Im sure
he will get it sorted out. He also Looked a little nervous to me, I don’t know, did anyone else think So? At least not relaxed into the choreography. He was probably worrying about the jumps during the program. Once he’s more used to it maybe he will feel the program more, like bolero at worlds last year.

I agree! It makes sense because he didn't do any competitions before the GP and this is his first time skating his programs in a "real" competition this season. And I also think he knows well what Kao is capable of, so he really is focused on earning every point out there today. But I'm glad he's tested so early this season, and I definitely look forward to see how Shoma and his programs will grow in the future!

Beyond the first two jumps that gave him trouble, Shoma got his legs under him and stretched and reached for every point. He left points out on the ice but what he did cleanly he was well rewarded for it and rightly so. That whole package of choreography, costume and that mesmerizing skating-I would give him all the points he's so fabulous.

Congratulations, Shoma. Really happy for you and for all those who support you.

He mentioned that what caused the really bad practice was that his shoelaces weren't tied properly, does that count as a boot issue? Lol, what a Shoma type of thing to say. 😆 He had me really worried for a while there...

Report may or may not come later, I'm pretty tired...

His as well?
As Kao had a more serious issue, but still..

Thank you Mark Hanretty. Couldn't have said it better myself. Never change! Shomajesty is definitely Numero Uno!

"He comes into the GPS as the reigning world champion, but beautifully humble. In all of the practices, the warm-up & the comp here, no sense of arrogance or ego, just a testament to his great character despite being the world's best last season."
