If actually thought they looked better than I expected for such a new pair (and of course he's totally new to the discipline) in their first outing. I was really impressed with this. I thought it displayed a really solid foundation to work with. I was impressed by how in synch they already are in general (and their jump timing matches perfectly — some senior pairs on the Grand Prix can't do that). The lifts looked great. Obviously they want to work their way up to triples, but all in all this team should be very pleased.
I knew Nic could lift because I had seen him do them for fun... but not to that level... but what really surprised me the most was how well they skate together... they definitely not look like Ruest-Wolfe... who had a completely different style... (Emma and Nic seem much more powerful with more potential too in the long run) BUT, when I watched them, I couldn't help thinking about how impressed I had been with Ruest Wolfe when they first got out... Let's hope for Emma and Nic that they will avoid injuries as they bring up their content.. this is partly what caused Ruest and Wolfe's issues later on.... when they acquired the triple twist and harder throws.. Sigh...
Argh, poor Shiryaeva.
If I recall properly, she was allowed to compete in "non-qualifying" domestic competitions until things are cleared out with Russia.
no experience for either of them I believe and no idea about her height... i guess we will find out soon enough when they get a isu profile... Nic is very tall indeed... she looks like 5'4 - 5'5 or something like that to me...
No, December. For all twenty or so applications they had stacked. But at least for Shiryaeva it’s hopefully not return to sender since she physically relocated.
sigh.. .perhaps they will grant her a bye directly to nationals... that's the only thing i can imagine. how old is she again?

; I always thought he had the perfect height for Pairs. So, I’m so happy to see him competing at this event and starting off so well. His partner can already do a 3S. Which, after watching the Junior/Senior competition, only half of the field could land in the short program. So, that is good. I can’t wait for the free skate.
Emmanuelle was a decent single skaters with a solid 3s and 3t. I am hoping I get to see the FP as wellAlso, Nic
. She won the free skate and skated to her full potential. She landed three triples (two 3S and one 3T). Then, she went for two 2A’s and then two 2F’s. It was just refreshing seeing someone skate 7 clean jumping passes. She also went for 2F 2Lo. So, I appreciate when athletes max out what they are capable of landing.
You sound surprised? Some of the better skaters from Quebec are not competing as there is Ice Challenge this week. Also, Quebec is a strange province when it come to women skating... yes, it has made Joannie, Cynthia, Veronik, Alicia and others.. but I don't ever remember it as being deep at the top... MANY contenders but weaker.The Quebec Senior Ladies Sectionals just ended. Let’s just say, none of the ladies at this event skated well enough to even make Japanese or USA Nationals. I don’t even remember who won. I think it was Julianne Lussier. That is how unmemorable the event was. She won with 144. I think she only landed two triples!

Marie-Maude was a disaster. She went for too high technical content. 3Lz and 3F are her first jump and you can tell she isn’t confident with these jumps. I appreciate the fact she went for 2A 3T and was the only triple double combo in the second half. But, her jumps are mostly step outs and she doesn’t even focus on spins. They all end quickly and seem to be a struggle. Disappointed by the competition. Hopefully, their Junior girls are better. No wonder Justine wins so easily.

These two new pairs are showing lots of promise. I am afraid for Lia's fans as a single woman skater that she will get into pairs seriously with these early successes...
The score is high (we see only half the program) considering it was a double twist and double throw...
I’m always hoping to watch the next unexpected up and rising comer. I forgot that Ice Challenge had Juniors too. Yay! I can’t wait to cheer on the Canadians. I think these are Canada’s back up stars and they must be sent there to attain minimum technical scores for Worlds and 4CC. Go Canada

hehehe ... but yeah... score would be generous because it would be up there with max and deanna for instance... but i am okay with it... it's time Canadian judges give their skaters some encouragement
