How can she compete at Junior Worlds when she's only 12 years old?
Is the Chinese federation rushing her into the international scene like they did with Binshu Xu a couple of years ago?

Thanks for the video! She's very cute. Too bad about the fall. She's a natural performer, and a natural athlete! I love the heigt & flow on her jumps. Wonderful. 
I think she has the potential of becoming as good as Chen Lu if not better. I don't know who in China could be coaching her, though. With Li MingZhu gone, I don't know if there is any good ladies coach there to help her develope.

In order for Bingwa to contend for the OGM, she would first have to appear on a World podium prior to 2010; no lady has ever won the OGM without first winning a World medal. If she's only 13 now, then it wouldn't be possible for her to go to Worlds 2009, and she'd be making her world debut at the Olympics in 2010. No way is a newbie going to walk away with the OGM first time out of the gate, especially considering how strong the Ladies competition will be in 2010, with Kim, Asada, Ando and the US ladies.
If she continues to develop her skills, Bingwa could be an OGM contender in 2014, when she is 19, but 2010 is too soon.

Well, the thread was created when her age was known to be too young to even attend the 2010 Olympics. I don't think the thread creator or anyone else was hoping for a gold for her there. Not yet anyway.
She is on the JW roster, but is not yet showing a bio. However, the ISU requires a bio for ISU Championships, so her birthdate has to be known before the competition. If she is underage and China can get away with fudging her birthdate the way they did with Binshu Xu, then she can compete in Bulgaria AND at the 2010 Olympics.

All the talk about her being future medal contender is too premature. I just hope she can maintain the speed of progress and focus on gaining consistency on jumps for the next year. Her skating skills are excellent with good speed. I'm a bit worried about her jumps though. She can spring to good height, but unlike other wonder kids such as Caroline Zhang/Mirai/Flatt with faster and smoother rotations, Bingwa's rotations are kind of labored and slow in the air...

She has a bad habit of looking down in the air and on landing, which makes her pitch forward on half the jump landings. She needs to look up and keep her back up straight and strong on landing, because she has plenty of height and speed -- she just needs to make the landings stronger. Katrina Hacker is a good example of a strong, straight back. This is why she gets good landings and high GOE's, despite her relatively simple jumps.
Maybe Bingwa can also ring her legs in closer and straighter in the air, then she'd rotate faster.
She's very cute in the exhibition piece. Did she pick the costume and do the makeup herself?
She strikes me as being a determined, precocious young lady. She has that girl-woman look to her that Caroline also flashes sometimes. But I can sense it in Bingwa even more. It's sometimes hard to believe that she's only 12, not just the way she skates, but her attitude.

No doubt skaters of Asian heritage (Kwan, Arakawa, and Zhang) are all quite popular there.Does she have the same coach as Geng Bingwa? How come she's pitching forward on her jump landings in the same way?

Her ISU bio says her birthdate is January 3, 1994. So (according to the Chinese press) she was 12 at domestic competitions earlier this year but will be 14 at Junior Worlds and 16 by Vancouver. How convenient is that.
Actually, I think it says March 1, 1994.
Anyway, congrats on Bingwa on making the JW LP cut-off! She's the only person in top 24 who doesn't have any international competition experience, so this is not a bad start. She looks like she may have gotten credit for the 3loop (though she fell on it), but she probably got downgraded on the other triple. In any case, I hope she skates well tomorrow and pulls up a few places.

But she's not the youngest or the smallest to make the final 24. According to the ISU bios, Miriam Ziegler is younger. (BTW, the giant Swede, Joshi Helgesson, is younger than Caroline.) And Hyeon-Jeong Kim is the tiniest lady by far. Bingwa is both taller and noticeably broader than her. This is all must know trivia ... So you're still sticking by her?

It's a real pity about the jumps, and certainly she can work on the rough edges of her spirals, spins, and footwork sequences. But she has a certain something about her that makes her skating really eye-catching, for me anyway. I really look forward to watching her develop as a skater!
