Feet and shin pain (desperate for advice)

Hey all. I’m an adult beginner and have been skating in Edea Motivo (size 270C) for about 6 months now. These are my first boots. Wearing them on the ground is totally fine, but since day one on the ice I was feeling this sharp pain in my arches and balls of the feet. This pain kinda subsides after 40 mins of skating, but next time it’s the same again, to the point that I have to sit a few times during the session. I’ve tried different lacing techniques, insoles with more arch support, warming up , foam rolling etc., but nothing seems to work properly. At this point the pain is no longer localized only in my feet and I think I developed shin splints.

I’m realy desperate for advice and don’t know what should I do. Should I try a different brand of skates? Custom fitting?
One additional point, I have quite poor dorsiflexion since childhood (compared to other people), other than that my flexibility is really good. My height is 5"10 and weight 180lbs (if that matters).

p.s. There is some redness and bruising on my feet, it's not from the skates, but shoes in general as I've been struggling with this all my life and it's kinda normal for me now

Hi and welcome! At your height/weight and being an adult etc you should not be in Motivo boots ever, they aren't stiff enough and for that reason and many others, could be causing your foot issue to be worse.

Please see a pro fitter and get properly fit. If you let us know the area you are in, we can suggest a proper fitter.

Best of luck! :)

Thank you! Unfortunately, I live in a rather small country (Lithuania) in Europe, so there aren’t many options. There is one skating store which people claim is the best and I’m planning to contact them. Afaik, they have a selection of edeas, risports, jacksons and grafs. I also feel that my current Motivos are a bit too narrow for my toes… Just in case, do you have any recommendations in terms of brand and model? I’m currently working on my walz jumps, some basic spins and footwork.

Sure, I could suggest. What is your foot like though?

I called the store which I mentioned previously and sad news... Apparently they have close to nothing for adults in stock. They mentioned that they'll contact Estonian store for Risport Electra (I don’t know if these are good or not for me), however, I'm not sure that I want to try only one model and brand as I'm afraid to run into similar situation again as I'm now. :( Situation with blades is also difficult: I wanted CA or MK pro, but apparently it's so hard to get them, they offered Jackson Legacy instead.

They couldn't promise me any delivery dates. At this point I'm seriously considering traveling abroad as I don't want to skate with my Edeas anymore because of excruciating pain. @Ic3Rabbit do you think I could find a good fitter e.g. in Poland or Baltics? Or even anywhere in Europe? In general, I’m lost as I don’t even know how skates are supposed to fit and feel like. With edeas it seemed fine at first.

Yeah, I was talking about more of a description of type etc. I don't need pictures of feet
I’d say they are medium width (at least how they look to me), ball is wider than heel, arch is higher than medium (not extreme though). Egyptian type. Also I tend to overpronate a bit when running or doing similar activities, so that might be the case with skating as well.

I had written out a full post with suggestions, but it somehow disappeared before I could send. I will type it up tomorrow, I just wanted you to know I didn't forget you. :)
