Domnina/Shabalin reportedly withdraw

Well, whoever Piseev sends, they better place high enough to salvage 3 entries in dance!

As I said above, if Khokhlova / Novitski win bronze and Bobrova / Soloviev place 10th or better, the 3 places are saved.

The odds of the first happening are 50/50, of the second, maybe 6-1.

I Think more important for the Russians is to medal having 3 spots for next year want worry them as much as not being on the podium

Does this mean the gold is B & A's to lose?

There are people now theorizing that the Russian judges will swing towards the French instead...though they will be the favorites, especially if they make no mistakes; I think Delobel and Schoenfelder have a tendency to make them slightly more often.

This is huge news. They were the favorites for the Gold, so it must be really tough for them to make this decision. I am surprised, because they skated so well at the GPF even though he had just come off surgery. ( or maybe that was europeans) whatever.

I should think now Belbin and Agosto are the favorites, along with the French. I pray that Tanith and Ben don't let the pressure get to them and skate as well as they did all season. This is thier chance... come on.. live up to it!:clap::clap::rock:

Yeah, this is Del/Shoes to lose, NOT B/A. Second placement at best for B/A, V/M will not get at the podium with Schpilband training both teams. So that leaves K/N as the third finishers.
And I would suggest the conspiracy whiners shut and look at K/N's results this year. They managed to be competitive against all top three teams this season. So NO MAGIC there.

You're completely disregarding the fact that V/M beat K/N at the GPF by 5.82 points, and at NHK by 9.93 points. Sure K/N is the #3 European team, but that doesn't make them #3 in the World.

If K/N beat V/M for bronze at Worlds, then IMO it will be because of a carefully stacked judging panel that was intended to insure gold for DomShabs. Since DomShabs can't be there, no reason not to take advantage of the setup to ensure a medal for K/N.

Fair and right? Not in my book.

maybe there's a chance of anastasia platonova/ alexander grachev to win the gold...

The competition has not yet started and we already "wasrobbing". How typical of you!
If they skate like they did at 4CC, I highly doubt that they will be even among top 5.
And they got highest scores this season with that "performance". Poor Davis/White.:(

So, why don't you wait till there is a reason to spit your vile.

Said that, the only reason they might not end up on the podium is Schpilband. I doubt there will be two teams on the podium from this coach.

It doesn't matter how V/M beat K/N in previous competitions. The worlds is a different competition altogether, and K/N have improved with every competition they entered. So even if they do get a medal and place ahead of V/M, that is very possible and I would hardly be surprised.

Besides, with D/S withdrawing, they will be the #2 European team at worlds.

Guys, i think, that most important, how all teams will skate at WCh. Or you think, that all depends only from there countries and federations? In this case, Bobrova-Soloviev could thake medal, becausr they are from Russia,
It could be very interesting WCH, because judjes didnt need to give gold for D/Sh and all other teams can fight for medals.
I wish luck all of them!

I prefer to think that the judging is more honest than that. This is a team that is 40 or more points behind K&N, Delschoes, and B&A, not to mention D&W and V&M. A medal may well be in Bobrova/Soloviev's future, but they are not yet up to that level of skill.

Here's their Yankee Polka CD at COR:

Here's their OD with season's best at COR. To Kalinka, yet.

And their FD (again season's best at COR):

It was joke
I mean, that not only russian teams can take medals. And all federations work on there skaters. And all will depend from there skating in this WCh - thats all.
I wish medal for Tessa and Scott - but will see

Well, V/M is the #2 NA team at Worlds. Why should #2 Euro place ahead of #2 NA when V/M has beaten K/N twice, and fairly recently: at NHK and at the GPF.

Nobody had problems with Euro #4 K&N being beaten by NA #4 D&W at Worlds last year, even after K&N had been clearly ahead of D&W in the GP Series that season. When the tables turn in NA teams favor, it's considered "progressing throughout the season" whereas if Russian teams improve on their score/placement the least bit it has to be "politikkkks" and nothing else. :p I'm a fan of the lyrical style V&M show but have no favor for their FD this season and if they perform the way they did at 4CC, they should NOT medal at Worlds.

I think it's entirely possible that K/N will place ahead of V/M and take bronze, but it will be because of the judging panel, which will have at least two Russian judges (ARM and RUS) and Russia-friendly BUL and EST on the FD panel. In addition, the possibility exists that AZE (also Russian) and UZB and ISR (Russia friendly) will be on the FD panel as well.

This panel was originally engineered to help ensure gold for DomShabs, and since ice dance is probably the only discipline where Russia can win a medal, I would not be at all surprised to see K/N get some humungous PCS scores and place ahead of V/M.
