2023 U.S. Nationals Sr. Women's Free Skate

Great competition! So happy for Isabeau and Bradie! How ironic that it was a young Bradie knocking off the likes of Gracie and Ashley a few years ago. Now the new girl is in town but Bradie looks great. Not loving the dress nor the silly voiceover in the middle of the LP but her spins are spectacular and the jumps are back. Amber is well deserving of third -gutsy, raw performance!

I was also impressed with how Gabriella Izzo skated way back in the first group. She had a miserable SP but really rebounded in the LP. Potential there!

Isabeau for world championship gold. USA is going to dominate even with national inflation the world is USA's oyster. the skating God's have declared team usa is unbeatable!!!! (Add to that not only are they best right now in everything but their major competitiors in dance, pairs are injured; men and ladies is ripe for the picking. The world will bow to the greatness of team USA.

I saw from Gracie on.

Amber was stunning and, for me, the best performer.
Starr in 4th? Ahead of Thorngren? Uhhh... no.
Bradie started with one error, and once she began to let the points slip away, I got worried she would somehow drop behind Starr as well. She didn't, but I wouldn't have her above Amber. Horrible music cuts and voice-over, unconvincing choreography. She was stellar in the short program, but this vehicle is not one to take off the lot.
Not impressed with Isabeau aside from her ability to land jumps. The jump entries are so long and drawn-out, the head and shoulders tilted so unattractively before takeoff. I thought of Tara Lipinski's technique a bit, but I think Tara was generally not as hard to watch as that.

Anyway, I hope Amber will keep competing. She is special.

How old are you, 10?

While I would've loved to see Starr on the podium, I'm not mad that Amber is the bronze medalist. This is Starr's best placement, and I hope that she's proud of that.

Now, I hope that she focuses on stopping the popping next season, and gets her Lutz back. :)
Starr is on the podium - pewter! great job. And does this mean Gracie gets funding - Iknow on another board some said this may not be good because it may give her false hope to continue on. But I know she tried her hardest and what more can we ask for. All these ladies were troopers. Sad about Hsquared but she will be back. ISabeau looks great and good job Bradie. I think it is clear who is going to world's - the top three.

Is it possible to do 4Cs and Worlds physically????

I want this for Bradie!!!!

She's a very stable competitor, I think she has fantastic chances are 4Cs and it will prepare her even more for Worlds!

Glad Amber finally gets to go to Worlds (I'm assuming of course).
My guess is that this year, USFS is going to go straight down the line--
Worlds: Levito, Tennell, Glenn with alternates Andrews, Thorngren, Gold. (Josephine Lee is too young for Sr Worlds, but I think she will be sent to Jr Worlds along with Clare Seo and Soho Lee, new US Jr champ). They may offer Thorngren Jr Worlds again, but I suspect she may decline.

4CC, I have no idea who will end up going, but likely USFS will give Levito/Tennell/Glenn first dibs if they want to go.

Some feds send the same skater(s) to both, so it is possible. It might not always be the best choice, but depending on the individual, why not?

Have you watched any international competitions this season?

Gracie is a puzzle to me. She skated a really good SP but her reaction then was hardly different from that of her LP where she had several mistakes. Is that the idea - to take the emotion out of skating and just focus on the elements? I applaud her return and doing it for herself. I just don't see the pleasure or the reward.

That's one thing I am worried about Isabeau is her technique seems a bit awkward - maybe worse than the Eteri girls. I thought it was me but her technique creates a long wind up. or telegraphing. She doesn't have the flow of the Japanese skaters.

Isabeau definitely has some jump technique issues especially on the toe jumps. This will catch up with her if she grows even a little bit--many people have pointed this out. Maybe she can fix these issues, maybe not. She should be able to improve power and speed, which she needs to do quickly. She does have above-average spins, decent footwork/skating skills, and excellent presentation quality and attention to detail. And something that can't be taught--competitive nerves of steel, probably best of the US ladies right now.

No, a loud "woooooo" from an adult is different. These girls have the high-pitched screames that sound like someone gave a group of preschoolers some whistles.
And it is the absolute worst when the screeching tweens are sitting right behind you like they were at a gymnastic tour show my sister and I attended years ago. My ears were practically bleeding!

Fixed it. My brain got confused. Please have some patience and compassion for us non-neurotypicals. Apologies.
I do the exact same thing. Got my Ellie’s mixed up (Tim’s partner Ellie is 13. Danny’s partner Ellie is 17-18)
