Pairs long.

I think D&D and P&T had the performances of the night. D&B also did a great job. Add me to the list of people puzzled by the scores of S&S.

I found the medal ceremony interesting. CBC CC showed it. They had a group sing the German national anthem live on the ice. I wonder how many anthems they've had to memorize, not knowing who will win each event. Then just to play to Swedish stereotype, they played "The Winner Takes It All" by ABBA.

Did any of you think while watching that Pang/Tong's second double Axel and their triple Toe were underrotated? Of course, the camera angles are horrible and you can't really see everything - but I certainly didn't see the underrotation.

I did not at all! That's why I thought they had gotten really low levels or something once their scores came up.

Complaining About The Judging

Be careful all of you that are complaining about the judging (even though you are right), the skating judge who complained on the forum may come over and post how upset he is that you don't agree with the ISU judging.

Do we look like we care? But thanks for the warning.

I am not so much criticising the judges today, but the judging system. What I don't like about the judging today (and most other days) is that mistakes on spins, in this case sbs, aren't punished enough. The only thing really outrageous today is the PCS of Zhang/Zhang. About 10 points too high - I found that entire performance horrible to watch.

Dubé/Davison would have won this thing under the old judging system.

:chorus::laugh::rofl: my fingers are shaking on my keyboard! :p

So you think the Germans still would've beaten the Zhangs under the old system? Because Dubé and Davison wouldn't have been able to win without either them or K&S doing so.

SP scores would have been different too. D/D were clean and lovely, and probably would have secured a Top 3 under the old system. And then won the FS, winning the Gold. IMO.

But would Dube/Davison even have been within striking distance under the old system? I think reputation judging would have been rampant in the short if that was the case....

I heard that at the medal ceremony they played LIVE German national anthem.
I wonder if they practiced Chinese or other national anthems as well.:frown2:

They have the podium pics on icenetwork. The facial experssions in some of them are priceless (especially on the first one...)

Hello skate lovers!
Did some one recorded the pairs SP or/and the final? Watching everything live at Scandinavium this week, but recording it also to enjoy it once more later, but the stupid stupid computer didn't record none of the pairs competition :frown:    :frown:

Agree with you about S/S as winners. I like them very much, but like almost everyone I was very surprised they scored that high. However, they have very impressiv steps.

Thank you very much for your help!

Yeah...I but I don't want to blame it on the skaters though....Aliona and Robin IMO are two of the nicest people in figure skating. It just shows in their interviews, and I know that they're well liked by skaters from all over the world too (if I remember they train part time in Canada and they're quite respected over there as well I think...) And one can tell they have a great working relationship too...

Dan and Hao Zhang are robbed!

We chinese are robbed!Definitely!
How ugly the jugdes are!!!

Do you all think figure skating a european sport? If it is, then I have nothing to say!

Well I guess it was the singe axel downgrade that really killed the Zhangs to some extent that coupled with the excessivley high GOE for the lifts of S/S.

I think this above post was somewhat inappropriate...I'm actually really offended by this. I have to say after watching Robin and Aliona's program, I kind of get what the judges were getting at....The thing is, Robin and Aliona skate their heart out, they've got soul, whereas the Zhangs just leave me cold. and I have to say the level of difficulty for S/S is just simply astounding, because it's so jam packed with linking stops and what not, there's not a single wasted second or step. And the way they did everything in sync with the music....It's not an easy music to skate too, and somebody must commend them for it! Everyone has only commented on how boring it is, but anyone cared to talk about how the skaters brought it life? They gave every single note a meaning with their moves, even if there was no obvious crescendo or decrescendo pointing to a climax.....

you must be kidding! with a performance like that, S/S will be a laughing stock forever in the history.

First off, congrats to Jessica and Bryce for winning the bronze!! The program was magnificent, she landed the lutz despite the lean in the air, and... wow :)
I won't get into the details about the other pairs on the podium, because I didn't get to watch their programs (had to eat supper and leave for my skating session... I'm a loooooong way from being at the level I watched all evening!:p), but I was wondering, what happened to Volosozhar and Morosov? I turned into CBC's feed just as something was mentionned about them restarting from where they'd stopped... I also saw him cut off the arm part of his costume... any details would be much appreciated :)

Kypma (who's still on Cloud Nine because of Jessica and Bryce's program!)
