Ladies Long Program

I don't think so. Someone else can probably provide better details, but I'm pretty sure they did worse in the early 90s.
In 93, Nancy Kerrigan was 5th, Lisa Ervin was 13th, and Tonia Kwiatkowski did not even get out of qualifying.

In 94, Nicole Bobek did not get out of qualifying. Michelle Kwan finished 8th.

At least Kimmie and Bebe are in the Top 10. Interesting to note that if they did not have the 2.00 deduction for falls, their free skates would actually rank 4th and 5th (before the final group skates) instead of the current 7th and 8th.

Oh, man. I can't remember the US ladies ever doing this poorly. Well, it's not entirely unexpected considering the top two skaters at nationals weren't even able to go.

Then again, Ashley Wagner did well at nationals, and look at how she placed here. It was probably nerves.

Joannie 1st to go . . . I am so nervous! C'mon Rocket, do what you are capable of!

Okay, my new dream podium (given the realities of the final group)

1. Kim
2. Nakano
3. Kostner / Rochette (either ... both)

I don't see Korpi holding on and I just haven't warmed to Asada. (I don't know why, just one of those things ....)
I love Nakano's perseverance for staying in the game so long (though I don't like the wrap) and would love to see her on the podium so maybe she'd get some respect in Japan.

I hope people remember it was the North American girls who self destruct, no conspirary by European judges.

Joannie wasn't bad but she struggled with some of the jumps. I like her, I wish she could just put it together.

Joannie Rochette

3Z-2T - low on the 3Z, not that much speed out of it
3F - lovely
This program has great choreo
1R - pop
Combo spin - nice positions
SLSS - better speed than usual, very sharp
3Z - nice
3S - nice again
Upright spin - very steady
Spiral sequence on crescendo - great edges
3T-3S-SEQ - perfect!
Flying sit spin - her spins are very steady today
2A-2A-SEQ - stumble out of second one
Final combo spin to close

Not her best this season, but still very good. It will not be enough for a medal if Asada, Nakano and Kim are all good.

She also messed up the last Axel and her footwork sequence was extremely tepid. Whole performance lacking inspiration.
