Ladies Long Program

I don't think so. Someone else can probably provide better details, but I'm pretty sure they did worse in the early 90s.

The worst I can ever recall the U.S. ladies doing is a 6th place finish.

This year the best is most likely going to be an 8th place finish from Meissner.

Oh dear...Wagner is falling apart....

Wonder what Katrina Hacker is thinking at home...

I don't think Katrina would've done any better. Nerves and the pressure of keeping 3 spots probably hit the US ladies. Looking at the scores, I agree with the poster above. Mostly everyone has sucked in the free skate.

Ashley is buried all the way down in 10th. :(

Kimmie is guaranteed a top 8 finish. Considering a 7th place finish at Nationals and the 2 falls here, she can't be too down about it. I think she'll be okay.

Wagner has very poor skating skills...more obvious now without the jumps being landed!!

As much as I hate to admit it, you're right. Her TES scores are terrible....

I wonder if Hacker would have faired better...hmmmm

In 1994, the best the US ladies did was Kwan's 8th place finish -- Bobek didn't get out of qualifying. All things considered back then (Kwan only 13; the sole US skater to get to the SP; and Worlds started only a few days after Tonya pleaded guilty to being an accessory in the whack), it was considered a pretty good result.

I am pleasantly surprised by Yu-Na's new costume. It looks really different with all the rhinestones and sparkles.

Yeah looks as though it will be 8th, 10th and 12th for US ladies. Well it's not as though they didn't try.

Wow, I'm stunned keeping up with the reports and scores.

The Europeans certainly have had meteoric rises in scores this comp, esp in dance.

For the long I hope Rochette skates clean and well and gets the scores she deserves. She's averaged much higher than the Kostner et al. (just about everyone except Mao, Kim) all season.

Is it home crowd/home ice advantage? Last year the Asian teams did so well, this year the Euro teams. I can see that many of our US skaters didn't have the best skates, but in the ladies short I still question why Rochette didn't place better, and Meier for that matter.

Oh, well.

Sorry to add to the whining.
