Anna Shcherbakova

Beijing

New York

That was spectacular to see. Very nice of the Chinese fans. I hope Anna makes many appearances in China in the coming years and has skating camps for the kids in China and makes a lot of endursement money from China because it's all there for her.

But it makes me sad to think that Anna wont compete anymore for a variety of reasons. She is phenomenal in all these shows. Anys makes much more money than when she competed. She doesn't have to train as hard as when she's skated for the ISU so she can weigh more and be healthier. Anna had knee surgery last summer and that's tough to recover from for an athlete especially one who is a figure skater. And Anna probably won't want to put up with the hassles that Russian skaters are gonna have to go through when they do come back to International competition. More drug tests perhaps some angry at Russia fans and things like that. Another issue is that when they do come back Russia may not even have 3 quotas so why bother?

But Anna is only 18 and could still be coming into her prime competitively. She would be fantastic even without the ultra jumps she would still have complex routines complex footwork do lots of triples at a high level and have by far the best artistry and musicality in the game.

Anna was at the Spartak football match today and was on the pitch for the ceremonial kickoff.

And she saw an exciting match. 4 goals and her club coming back twice to grab a 2:2 draw.

That is why I came to peace with this before the start of the season. And as I mentioned before, the pill was easy to swallow since we saw her win everything there was to win, and there are no loose ends or missed opportunities.

She sacrificed a lot, let her go make her money and do other things that will be less stressful on her body.

Plus, it’s not like she is just sitting home. She is still traveling and trying new things. TV host, magazine shoots, kicking a football around, and will be used as a hair model for an upcoming conference.

Life is hard for these figure skaters the sport is just very tough on the body and mind. She has many opportunities and will take advantage of them. I would like to see Anna skate part time competitively but I don't think she will. I'm not sure she cares enough to get her quads back. At the GPF today 4 Russian ladies scored over 240 points. There's still a lot of competition there even without Anya. It's always nice to see her smiling. She brings a golden Sunny aura to everywhere she goes.

If we see Anna with bad hair this weekend, we will know the stylist to blame. Haha

Anna being thoughtful as always:

Anna is IMHO the only (female) skater right know who is showing some complex skating in gala performances instead of just skating around and making spread eagles etc., she also executes her movments to the end (great arm extensions!) and kind of shows off her obviously still existing jumping skills by randomly throwing 2As at galas, which the other ladies don't dare to do. I would even say that she has tremendously improved her artistic side during the past year and I am very happy that she stays true to her style. Classics fit her and I will never get bored with those. They might look kind of similar and yet she always conveys the right feelings and makes the vibe come off differently as according to the occasion.

Getting happy bday played on the piano by Zagitova. Life is good if you are Anna.

I’m not going to go on and on, like I usually do, what I think of Anna is well documented at this point.

I only want to say that when you want to use an example of age only being just a number, you have exhibit A right here, front and center.

Happy birthday Anya! She won worlds at 16 olympics at 17 but I wonder about her future. People say they want to see these incredible Russian girls compete into their 20s. Me too. I hope her knee is okay after surgery.

"today is my birthday. I received a lot of very nice gifts. In addition, I will now answer your questions. You asked me what I would like to be if I wasn't skating. Here my answer is very simple: I have been skating since the age of three and I can no longer imagine my life without it. And the second question was about what wish I make for my birthday. Here, my answer is also quite simple: I believe that everything is in our power, and if we work hard, then everything will definitely work out. Therefore, I usually do not make wishes, but I try to translate everything into reality myself."

Thank you for the translation. Can you please provide a link to the source of the video (it is from some kind of social platform, right)?
