In the press conference, they said the main reason of their retirement is Dai's right knee. He had to miss some practice, and sometimes even barely could walk. He told Kana that he was going to retire after this season before 4CC. She had decided that he was going to be her last partner, so told him she was going to retire with him, too. They told Marina right before they departed Florida to Japan before Worlds.
Dai said he would want to continue if his right knee allowed, but they both look happy because they could end their competitive career with a high note. They thanked to each other and to Marina.
They will perform at ice shows together as well as solo.
Thank you for the summary, mikeko.

If you like, you can add any further information there too.

Given their age, it was to be expected, but I was hoping they'd stay around for a year or two more. They are so charismatic. Wishing them the best!
