2023-24 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 4 - Kazan

Valieva in the lead isn't outrageous (the ongoing case doesn't make her a worse skater than Mura). But the gap should have been smaller.

I truly love mura as well, she is very unique and mature in her skating.
I enjoyed Daria’s SP, I found it entertaining. I don’t know much about this skater (since she was injured recently) but she seems to be in shape

Misha about the women's evenet

'I'm thrilled. I just watched it and enjoyed it.'
As always Misha is a man of few words ;)

Huh! I expected Daria to be second, I'll never be able to figure out FS scoring I tell ya.

Well it's almost 1am here so I gotta run! Good luck to the pairs!

It was a great, flawless performance she doesn't have the charisma or artistry of Kamila.

I don't think Muraviova was any better than Sadkova.
Hilarious take. Did you see when Sadkova stopped in the ice and started her Sotnikova-esque roboticism? Come on. That was not as good as Muravieva from even the edgiest and most contrarian perspective. And yea Valieva wins off charisma and her forte of goregous cohesion but this short isnt a show of her artistry at all - her days of deep artistry are not in this season. Dont worry, I admit your god Valieva deserved first, you can relax.

I was just thinking that it’s already the fourth stage… and a lot of good skater haven’t skated yet… or juste one time.
Next stages will be exciting… hope no WD

The level of the last four is off the charts. Some of the best skating you'll see. Only Sakamoto can compete with these girls.
Sakamoto is very obviously levels below Valieva by basically every metric. She has experience and consistency over Muravieva but thats it. She wouldnt deserve top 4 today based on any of the SP I've seen from her.

I think Valieva is calmer and especially today she respected the music more. However I consider Muravieva the better skater overall in terms of PCS, especially her skating skills are better, and I think her program is a bit more complex in movements. I would have them rather close. But I would think it will all be decided by the jumps tomorrow anyway.

There's surely no other skater out there looking more stressed than Muravieva.

I'm biased, but I'm good at being objective (you just have to believe me), but Valieva just skated one of the best short programs without a 2A in history. Muraviova was just a really, really good skate performed to the maximum.

Kamila could do Muraviova's program in her sleep, Muraviova could live to 1000 and not skate I See Red. I'm not trying to be insulting, Muraviova is one of the best skaters in the world.

You've seen her Gladiator and Janet Jackson...? Her current short is not it, but to say she wouldn't deserve top 4 here is just nonsense.

As probably the biggest Muravieva fan on this forum I really think Valieva took the PCS fairly today. I agree Muravieva's raw choreography was arguably more stimulating and unique but Valieva's experienced cohesion and charisma are more related to objective skill and judging.

Muravieva will be a potential favourite no doubt at any time, but Valieva as a pure dancer is quite elite, unlike anybody else in skating. What she has given in her life to fine tune every movement and presentation in dance cant be matched in PCS from pure gift (which Valieva also has) and typical skating-choreo training like Muravieva. I really dont say this as a big Valieva fan at all - I actually have strong reservations about her (not to do with doping or skating at all) but I dont see any strong objective argument for giving Muravieva the 1st place PCS today.

Im referring to this season because thats the fair comparison. Obviously if you take her best ever skate it'll give her the podium at a national grand prix stage easily.

My problem with Muravieva's skating is that her programs and costumes and dresses are similar every time. Valieva has also been called a one-style skater, but that's definitely a thing of the past now.

RIA insider claims that she's kind of lost her self-confidence.

Maybe they were talking about the scoring potential. Sakamoto always have been the most overscored non-russian after Kostner imo.
However, about top 4, i don't think that Gorbacheva and Sadkova would and should beat her.

Sofia's program was more difficult and sophisticated, Kamila-IMO-the standard issue Eteri program with the same leg kicks etc. Spins for both girls were fantastic, jumps about the same as well, but I would have given the PCS edge to Sofia.
