Presumably Rohene did his best once he heard it.

I really, really wanted to like that short more than I did. His skating is glorious as always, so I'm hoping it will grow on me. I still expect him to land on the podium. (I sort of expected him to win going in, but I might have been over zealous.)

At least tomorrow he should be back in the final flight, which is where he belongs. Skating in the first flight was just plain weird.

I absolutely LOVED that Tarzan program. I have already gone back and re-watched. I never expected to say that, but it is truly a masterpiece. The choreo is brilliant - complicated and detailed. It works perfectly with the music. There is so much room for interpretation in there - he's full on ACTING. Honestly. I did not expect that. When he gets the jumps in there, too, it is going to serve him VERY well.

Rats. With a good short Jason maybe could have won that! But don't get me wrong - I think the choreo in Tarzan is brilliant but then I wouldn't expect anything less with Rohene. He and Jason are just a heaven-made match! I just find the music discordant and unpleasant. Of course I'll watch it (and listen) multiple times because it's Jason.

He skated like himself today. That was reassuring. No nerves, sharp, mostly clean. The program is a work in progress. I think it will be fantastic at Nats. I can't wait to see what he does with it. Tracy looked more relaxed today too. She looked concerned after the short. No concern today. I enjoyed watching it very much!

Wow, I think the FS is going to be great when it has a few more miles on it! Love the music - for some reason it reminds me a little bit of Sinnerman. He actually doesn’t seem to be in bad shape for someone who hasn’t competed in about 8 months - yes he’s got stuff to fix, but I’m betting he can do it with more training time. In the SP the announcer said he’d had a great practice the day before so I’m betting part of it is just snapping back into competition mode. Here’s hoping!

My take on Warsaw was that he was afflicted with sudden onset of competition nerves when he got on the ice. And he hadn't competed the short before. Plus he said they were still working on the layout. Overall, it was a very good early in the season skate, because this was his first competition since Japan Open and that doesn't really count. I was happy to see that Steve and Marla were with Jason in Warsaw and they all went to the RMCH together. Warsaw is beautiful. Some of those photos reminded me of Paris and some of Amsterdam. The city spans many hundreds of years. I'm glad that they got to see it. I feel like it was a very positive experience for Jason and am excited to see what he does at Nationals. He seems happy to be competing again. And even though his score was lower than we're used to from Jason, it was a good start. He can build on that. There's lot of room for growth and interpretation and details.

I love the program - with the sound off. Thanks for posting the video, I hadn't seen it. Agree with the nerves, etc. I don't remember him ever messing up a spin or faltering on his footwork. This is a good warmup for Nationals. So much of that program was classic Jason.

i wonder if he's going to want another smaller competition before nationals, just to fine tune things and get a few more miles on both programs, or even just the short. i'm sure his first time competing in so long was pretty nerve wracking, but he did well nonetheless.

Another comp would be a good idea, but he may not have time enough to do one. Staying in training with the inevitable holiday breaks, might be better than another competition. Warsaw was actually very competitive this year. There may not be another competition like that before the end of the year. But I do think that this competition experience was valuable, because it was a throwback to what he used to do regularly. And I'm sure it was a good wake up call. He knows what he has to do. He's back in the mix and that is important for his competitive mindset.

I'm glad that he's doing that in Feb. He seemed to really enjoy the experience last year.
