That's my point. The glorious moment was stolen from them. No ecstacy of victory, no rush of patriotic pride, no marching in the closing ceremonies to the admiration of cheering crowds with the medal of highest achievement around their necks. This was stolen from them and is gone forever. Their glory has been overshadowed and replaced by the wrangling of lawyers, dragging out for months and years.Most, if not all, of these skaters will have retired from the sport, with the glorious moment stolen from them.
Plus, there's this. If you skate better than everyone else and win the gold medal, your chest swells -- you are the best in the world! If you skate second best and are awarded the first place medal because the other guy cheated -- to me, the emotions are different. What happened happened. Time to move on.
