Yuzuru Hanyu

Here's the first Sports Hochi article of the series of seven, with Mao Daichi's interview:
https://hochi.news/articles/20240305-OHT1T51109.html?page=1
She has been to a Mao Asada show, because Mao Asada was named after her!
She could exchange thoughts with Yuzuru Hanyu and felt they were sharing many feelings, and was also asked on her past interpretations and projects. But there's no disclosure of the content of her collaboration to Notte Stellata 2024...

Not only will there be street vendors by the Notte Stellata venue in Rifu near Sendai, but the official Notte Stellata site advertises for them, introducing their main articles and their prices:

Last of the list is the Irene shop (part of the proceedings go to Ice Rink Sendai) who prepared three limited edition articles for Notte Stellata 2024:

Oh I love that mug!

And the shirt, they probably don't have it in my size but I could see me giving them as presents to quite a few people :)

AND... Yuzu has been confirmed for the fantasy on Ice A-tour dates in Makuhari & Aichi

No SOI this year, it seems (one of his new RE_PRAY shows is on the same date as one of the SOI ones....)

There will be two more RE_PRAY shows, at Sekisui Heim Super Arena in Miyagi!

Shows just how successful it was! :cheer::biggrin::hap10::biggrin::cheer:

This is great news indeed! Oh wow, I am so happy for him and for us all! Hoping for Beyond Live stream and archive again, of course, as usual for this show!!! :cheer::clap::clap::hap10::hap10::jump::jump:
No worries about SOI. Choosing between the two , I think everyone would go for Re_Pray without a second thought!
I just watched Re_Pray on Beyond yesterday and really, really hope for a DVD/Blue Ray for it, and soon. I mean it is just too good not to be available any more after the viewing period comes to an end!!!

RE_PRAY, like all Yuzu's own shows, is just on another level. I am glad he will do FAoI as I think the lack of pressure (he's just there to skate) and mixing with fellow skaters is what he clearly wants at times.

I think I read somewhere there will be 3 new programs for NS...

Oh, sure! Of course, I'd be happy to see him do all of them, but clearly that's not what is going to happen so just be it!
Great to hear about 3 new programs for NS. Fantasy on Ice usually brings some more new programmes, too, so.... we're in for a treat!

And new costumes - yes, the group ones will be errr, something else, they always are  but last year's If and Glamorous Sky were gorgeous (the costume for If is definitely one of my favourites)

IF definitely is one of my favourites go-back-to, just like Masquerade....
I definitely have a soft spot for his FaOI programmes...
so, yeah, very happy abut it!

Last year in Fantasy on Ice, several group costumes were a miss, in comparison with the 2022 hits, but for 2024, this just increases the suspense! (They will always be crazy and gaudy of course, that's what they're for!)
I'm sorry only for those who bought a ticket for Stars on Ice at the pre-sales to watch Yuzuru Hanyu and have a first row seat, because he won't be there of course. I've never liked the way Stars on Ice start their pre-sales before announcing the cast. Well, the skaters who participated last year and are programmed this year, will still experience the difference between a tour with Yuzuru Hanyu and a tour without him; and the antis who complained that because of the presence of Yuzuru Hanyu and those obnoxious antis the venue was too full, are likely to have more space.

So, in the end, in comparison with doing Stars on Ice, fewer (about 2x6,000?) people will see more Yuzuru Hanyu (a whole show, and what a show!), instead of more people (more shows, in rather larger venues) seeing "diluted" Yuzuru Hanyu (start of the opening number, one program and the Finale).

Had you noticed? The RE_PRAY Tour has its own Wikipedia page, and the news of the fourth stop is already there:

I'm so happy that Yuzuru Hanyu will be once more skating a solo show at home, in Rifu near Sendai, as he did with Prologue! And I do believe that at least on the first of these two shows, the sakura blossom will still be open.

Regarding Hanami (cherry blossom watching) in Sendai, particularly of the Yuzuru cherry tree in the Nanakita Park, this post is from the person in charge of the Ice Park project in this park, who explains the chanllenges they faced at first (with the ground planned for the nemophila flowers, being full of building scrap from when the park was built in the middle of blooming building in this neighbourhood, in 1989, but he knew a farmer nearby who could help them with a tractor), and who tries a guess as to the date of bloom, warning that last year he was wrong by three days:

So, to add to the excitement of the day, Part 6 of Yuzu being interviewed by Itoi-san has been published, talking about training for FS, dance moves and comparisons with ballet or hip hop, enjoy!

And Notte Stellata fanart, different angle :)

I think that Yuzuru Hanyu is too modest. The Figure Skating specificities he's mentioning aren't detrimental to the synchronisation with music, in my opinion. And while many dancers (from different types of Dance and Ballet) have praised Yuzuru Hanyu, I don't remember having seen even one remark about the effects of glide. It IS detrimental to skaters with less mastery, though, in the sense that it's harder to get everything technically and expressing the music too. Very few skaters can.
I also agree on the fact that while overlapping with Ballet on some points, Figure Skating have different moves, and it is an error to watch Figure Skating wishing to see exactly ballet moves, but I don't think that anybody related to Ballet do that?

Both fanart works from the previous post have a RE_PRAY flag, this has a story. RE_PRAY flags have been for sale only in Yokohama, and Yuzuru Hanyu during his final speech explained that he had done so, because he loves handmade banners and feared that people would sway official flags instead of handmade banners during his shows. (This was so kind of him.)
But now that there's a new stop for RE_PRAY, many fans attending them will have official flags!
When he announced the show, he seemed quite aware of it, he said that he would do his best, and added black flags to his sentence!
