Kind of surprised that they already assign Sarah-Maude Dupuis at Skate Canada. I would have like that Skate Canada put a skate off in the summer between Sarah-Maude Dupuis, Gabrielle Daleman, Uliana Shiryaeva, Fee-Ann Landry, Audréanne Foster, Justine Miclette, etc. and the better skater win the TBA.

She's done well at 4CC two years in a row and has the fourth highest SB of the Canadian women (Lulu Lin has the second highest, but she's not senior eligible.) But they're not using the Challenger assignments so that skaters like Fee-Ann and Audreanne can get the TES minimums so that they can go to 4CC. I would've gone with leaving Madeline Schizas off since she's high enough that Skate Canada could've tried to get her two non-host spots.

PIRIHARA had one of their own and it was clear they would also get a home spot also. So that eas expected them to get two.
I agree. USFS should be thanking their lucky stars that Jason is still around and competing. He so reliable and consistent that he been in he top 10 in the rankings since at least 2019. The last 2 worlds he has been 5th so why should he retire. He is the man you want going into a home worlds that will determine how many spots we will have for the Olympic games he is skater that will get that top 10 placement so US get those 3 spots. If he is still performing at the same level in 2025-6 season he deserves to go to go to a 3rd Olympics as a thank you for all he has done for the sport and this time the US team should use in the team event so he can get a second Olympic medal.
He did say the he was going to do things differently this year because let's be honest what he did last year was not ideal. He admitted that he did need more competitions to work out issues that he had in his programs. So this might be why he is going to do Grand Prix this season. I do wonder if he going to go back to Tarzan or just do a whole new program all together. Will be interesting to see what he will do this season.

If it weren't for the Russian media, we might never have known the reason for this break at all.
It's also possible that he was found not guilty.
If he had a top 6 finish at Worlds than he would get 2 spots. But he hadn't.

I was very surprised to see Jason on the GP lists.Also Jason is competing the GP??? Wowza.
Skate Canada and NHK make perfect sense for him, but, again, wow.
La/La have their work cut out for them if they want to move up. Ice dance fields are just incredibly packed.
Three fairly obvious choices for Skate Canada for the Canadian women's slots. I sincerely hope they're sending some of the other women to some Senior Bs.
I presume the TBD spot at Skate Canada for a Canadian pair will go to Fiona Bombardier and Ben Mimar if they look at all ready.
Thrilled to see Yelim Kim back. Hope she's got a new LP that's not to one of my least favourite songs of all time 'Je Suis Malade'.
Hopefully Roman will get his feet under him early in the season this year at Skate Canada, and maybe even score another invite later on.
I'll probably have some more thoughts later.
Zero surprise. With a home Olympics on the horizon, I'm sure their federation would beg, borrow and steal to ensure they continue.

Maybe, instead of perpetuating the generational cycles of our forefathers, we should break them. Do better than the generations that came before us, so that the generations after us will be better than we were. After all, we can only blame ourselves, as it is our generation that raises the next generations, no?
Slang is just that - Slang. It is not intended for you, but for the communication of people within a group - A generation, a friend group, a family, a group of co-workers, etc. Young people are just as capable of writing "proper" English when the situation calls for it. Social media posts (and yes, including on this forum) don't call for it.
Just like the SMS slang of the 2000s, which consisted mainly of abbreviations due to the text limits, but wasn't used in other situations.
Language evolves. And it has to. Because culture and technology evolve too. A standstill in any aspect is not part of (human) nature.

Bradie Tennell received two GP assignments: Skate America and NHK. So, yes, Bradie is a SA host pick. But the way you worded your comments is a bit confusing. Whether or not SA is a host pick for Bradie, she still ends up with two GP assignments, after being selected by NHK.

I'm not sure why we're even blaming Millennials for slang changes. We're all in our late 20s to early 40s. I'm hardly looking for the hot new words to use.

"Bro" isn't even new. It's been around since at least the 1970s as a word to refer to (male) friends or a general group of people (first men and later gender-neutral in usage), and before that, it was around as a shortened version to refer to your brother since at least the mid-1600s.
"Bromance" (bro+romance) was first recorded in publishing in 2001 - 23 (!) years ago.
The criticism of slang is honestly weird to me and can carry problematic undertones with it, considering a lot of slang originates from marginalised communities (like "bro" from the African American community). Not saying it is anyone's express purpose to convey that sentiment, but it can easily end up drifting in that direction (for example, the word "slang" itself was also initially used by wealthy people to criticise the speech patterns of often impoverished sailors).
Do I understand all of the slang used? No. But it also doesn't hurt anyone. I think we have more important issues in the world than to police the speech young people use with each other and on the internet.
