Wait, wait! Everybody likes to read novellas about minutae. Don't they?General Thoughts & Storylines (for those of you who don't like to read novellas about minutae)
Because they wanted to make me happy by assigning Sara-Maude thereKind of surprised that they already assign Sarah-Maude Dupuis at Skate Canada. I would have like that Skate Canada put a skate off in the summer between Sarah-Maude Dupuis, Gabrielle Daleman, Uliana Shiryaeva, Fee-Ann Landry, Audréanne Foster, Justine Miclette, etc. and the better skater win the TBA.
PIRIHARA had one of their own and it was clear they would also get a home spot also. So that eas expected them to get two. These are some stacked GPs this year, ngl.
Men:
Super excited to see Donovan in the GP!! Yuma at NHK and Helsinki.... That's gonna be rough with them only being five days apart, but I wish him the best. I'm always excited to see Boyang, especially at the Cup of China! That'll be a lot of fun. Super surprised to see Grassl here... Was his case dropped or something? Also, Yudong Chen!!! I really liked what I saw of him last season, so I can't wait to see him in the GP.
Women:
YUNA AOKI SKAM ASSIGNMENT!!!! I'm so excited for her!! Young, Yelim, and Haein all got assignments this year so I guess the KSU is on my good side for today... Alysa is gonna be fun to see this year so I'm happy she got two assignments. I see Bradie has an assignment, so I hope she's healed well and is ready! Also, I wish Wakaba got two assignments, but oh well (She has two... missed that, lol)
Pairs:
I'm not super knowledgeable about pairs but I'm so excited to see Miura/Kihara, Stellato-Dudek/Deschamps, Beccari/Guarise, and Peng/Wang!
Ice Dance:
SKAM...... hm.
LIM/QUAN AT SCI AND HELSINKI!!!! I can't wait to see Brown/Brown, I wanna see how they've matured since the last GP because last year their costumes were still a bit junior. PIRIHARA TWO ASSIGNMENTS!!!!!
It's gonna be a fun season I think, super fun GP assignments it looks like!
I agree. USFS should be thanking their lucky stars that Jason is still around and competing. He so reliable and consistent that he been in he top 10 in the rankings since at least 2019. The last 2 worlds he has been 5th so why should he retire. He is the man you want going into a home worlds that will determine how many spots we will have for the Olympic games he is skater that will get that top 10 placement so US get those 3 spots. If he is still performing at the same level in 2025-6 season he deserves to go to go to a 3rd Olympics as a thank you for all he has done for the sport and this time the US team should use in the team event so he can get a second Olympic medal. With no one else stepping up except for Ilia Jason might as well try to make another Olympic team.
Does anybody know if Alysa has fixed her jumps or does she still chronically under rotate? I haven't seen any new video. It doesn't make sense IMO to give her SA and set up an early contest with Isabeau, who was always going to get SA.
If Alysa is back in form, both could make the GPF. The strategy is actually a decent one.
I have to go now.Skate America does have a brain cell, maybe many! (referencing one of my earlier posts wishing for this very assignment)
Donovan at Skate America!![]()
If it weren't for the Russian media, we might never have known the reason for this break at all. What doesn't make sense to me is the lack of a statement. If the case had been dropped, I would expect Grassl and/or his management to put out a statement to that effect, to help clear his name.
It's also possible that he was found not guilty. The timing is such that a backdated one year suspension would finish in time for the GP he's been allocated.
If he had a top 6 finish at Worlds than he would get 2 spots. But he hadn't.If he was a returning skater, would he not have two slots again based on that?
I was very surprised to see Jason on the GP lists. Also Jason is competing the GP??? Wowza.
Skate Canada and NHK make perfect sense for him, but, again, wow.
G/F officially announced they're aiming for 2026 in this interview with Rai Sport from today, as well as their appearance in the GP assignments:

I'm also happy for Wowa, it will be his senior debut in GP. Also happy that Katia got 2 spots.I'm happy to see Adam Hagara, Vladimir Samoilov, and Valtter Virtanen got a spot. Go European lads!![]()
“[Young people] are high-minded because they have not yet been humbled by life, nor have they experienced the force of circumstances. (…) They think they know everything, and are always quite sure about it.” - Aristotle, 4th century BCI realize this is off-topic; but I cannot stand the slang of Millennials/Zoomers these days: haphazard capitalization, adding the word "bro" to every sentence, infrequent punctuation.
Exactly. I guess Parkman did not get his release from Georgia yet. Are they going to try and hold him hostage for moolah mucho?McBeath and Parkman had the blade issue at U.S. Nationals not Efimova/Mitrofanov
Bradie Tennell received two GP assignments: Skate America and NHK. So, yes, Bradie is a SA host pick. But the way you worded your comments is a bit confusing. Whether or not SA is a host pick for Bradie, she still ends up with two GP assignments, after being selected by NHK.I suspect that Bradie Tennell only got one spot and is a host pick for Skate America so that she has a second spot. Alysa has two spots under the returning skater rule because she was third at WC in her last season. Ava and Lindsay had been given two spots. It looks like USFS have actually been reasonably strategic here.
I'm not sure why we're even blaming Millennials for slang changes. We're all in our late 20s to early 40s. I'm hardly looking for the hot new words to use.“Modern fashions seem to keep on growing more and more debased … The ordinary spoken language has also steadily coarsened. People used to say ‘raise the carriage shafts’ or ‘trim the lamp wick,’ but people today say ‘raise it’ or ‘trim it.’ When they should say, ‘Let the men of the palace staff stand forth!’ they say, ‘Torches! Let’s have some light!’” - Yoshida Kenkō, 1330
"The total neglect of this art [speaking] has been productive of the worst consequences...in the conduct of all affairs ecclesiastical and civil, in church, in parliament, courts of justice...the wretched state of elocution is apparent to persons of any discernment and taste… if something is not done to stop this growing evil …English is likely to become a mere jargon, which every one may pronounce as he pleases." - Thomas Sheridan, 1780
"Bro" isn't even new. It's been around since at least the 1970s as a word to refer to (male) friends or a general group of people (first men and later gender-neutral in usage), and before that, it was around as a shortened version to refer to your brother since at least the mid-1600s.I'm not sure why we're even blaming Millennials for slang changes. We're all in our late 20s to early 40s. I'm hardly looking for the hot new words to use.
