It's Lake Placid; we are lucky to have a website with results and not photos of results on blue paper, taped to the rink wall.

I would be shocked beyond belief if there were a Livestream.
I remember the days of photos of results taped to walls and me taking pictures of them and posting them.

2023 Intermediate champion Louis Mallane, who is skipping Novice, has upset the Junior field in the short program at the Broadmoor Open with a score of 60.28. Rosen came in a close second, Tankovic third, Brooks fifth and Luu sixth. Mallane's 3Lz+3T vs Rosen's 3T+3T seemed to be the deciding factor as they both appear to have run very clean programs (by the scores, I wasn't there). Brooks popping his 3A really took him out of contention.

In the Free Skate, Mallane finished second behind Brooks (same would go for overall finish if this were a combined event). Excellent outing for the new Junior. Tankovic would be third overall if this were a combined event with Rosen taking fourth.

GS has a nice article on junior skater, Lucius Kazanecki:

Lucius has an interesting family and career background along with hobbies that reveal his personality.

Is the Junior Team Cup coming in July, a new event, or has it been held for a while to determine JGP assignments?

I think it's actually in the 4th year. Probably just now getting more visibility and getting on people's radar more.
I think something similar ran in the previous years, but it was a bit later in the season around champs camp. Starting last year, they moved it to the beginning of the year as a pseudo-JGP qualifier in that the USFS doesn't base their JGP assignments solely on the results, but it a good performance will bode well for up and coming skaters.

Yes, fourth year of U.S. Junior Team Cup is coming up next week. (y)
It always has been held in early-ish July, in conjunction with Skate Milwaukee.

First edition of Junior Team Cup in 2021 was during the pandemic, and streaming was free. :)
GS had lots of discussion of 2021 Junior Team Cup within the 2021 Skate Milwaukee thread.
Results for "Junior Cup Men" and "Junior Cup Women" (not to be confused with Skate Milwaukee categories for "Junior Men" and "Junior Women") were included on the results page for 2021 Skate Milwaukee.
Wisconsin FSC's social media posts from 2021 refer to Skate Milwaukee as "Host of the U.S. Junior Team Cup."
Jul 12, 2022: "It was an honor to host the U.S. Junior Team Cup once again during Skate Milwaukee ..."
Jul 10, 2023: "It was a joy to host the U.S. Junior Team Cup event, once again! ..."

Starting in 2022, Junior Team Cup has had its own results page.

I was at the 2021 Junior Cup in Milwaukee when Ilia competed and watched the competition, and that was right after the July 4th holiday. It's always been a qualifier for juniors.

Though as the High Development team explained this weekend at a camp in Colorado Springs, it does not mean that the 1-6 will be the one sent and given international assignments. They look at the overall potential --"what's the glass ceiling of this skater if they do well?". So they could pick the #1, the #7, even the #11 at Milwaukee. Essentially, if they like you and you don't totally bomb, they could send you even if you didn't do super good at the Junior Cup.

SP results page for Junior Team Cup (Invite Only) is now active. No sense in listing ISP members, they're all ISP members. A big field this year with 21 skaters (previous years never had more than 15).

Kovar had done a minor international as a senior last season, so he could be going either direction this season. As could any of the higher-scoring juniors of course.

Martynov is missing. He's trainging in France now, right? Maybe he's cultivating other options for the '26 Olympics. Or maybe he's committed to USFS as an international senior.

Oh for the days when Skate Milwaukee was a tiny comp where Jason, training with Kori, would show up and skate pretty much solo:laugh: (no disrespect to the other competitors).

These junior skate offs have certainly attracted quite the field. :)

At the end of the day, USFS will still send the skaters they like to the very limited JGP slots -- even if they are not in the top 10 in this competition.

All the skaters not in the line of vision of USFS can only hope that their top placement at the Junior Cup will earn them the right to be put in the "must keep track" folder LOL

Hey guys, Reader's Choice Awards are up. Wanna bet that Ilia is going to win in a landslide! More than half of skaters listed should not even be up for this award. Come on.

Ilia was second last year. He will win this year. Chock & Bates surely have won before and this was not really their best year. Leah Neset & Artem Markelov won everything in Juniors. I would have them second behind Ilia; C&B in third, and Liv Flores & Luke Wang in 4th. But juniors are typically ignored, so Isabeau and Amber will probably get votes that should go to the juniors and/ or to one or more of the synchro teams.
