It was a good event, IMHO - fantastic line-up of skaters at a golden time for Canada's skaters (Virtue and Moir/Chan/Weaver and Poje, Patrick Chan and Keegen were all there. However, it was not so well attended.Yeah. On paper, it sounds great. Not sure why I had such a bad experience
I think I was at another SCI. It was Shoma and Keegan in men.. so maybe 2019 ?It was a good event, IMHO - fantastic line-up of skaters at a golden time for Canada's skaters (Virtue and Moir/Chan/Weaver and Poje, Patrick Chan and Keegen were all there. However, it was not so well attended.
Patrick didn't skate at his best - maybe that was contributory to your bad experience? It was the only time I got to see Patrick skating live, so although he was clearly disappointed, I got to see up-close his amazing skating skills.
No, that wasn't 2019, I was at Skate Canada in 2019 (my first Skate Canada!). It was in Kelowna and some of the stars there were Yuzuru Hanyu and Sasha Trusova...I think I was at another SCI. It was Shoma and Keegan in men.. so maybe 2019 ?

I'm a boomer, but think the use of "sick" is rather coolI don't want to get too involved in the off-topic argument, but I want to add one thing that really annoys me: the way that certain words and phrases are now being used to mean the exact opposite of what they used to mean.
Some examples.
- Transparent: It used to be that when you described somebody as being transparent, you were saying that they were dishonest and were hiding things. Now it is being used to mean that the person is being totally honest and has nothing to hide.
- Sparks flying: It used to be that when you said that there were sparks flying between people, it meant they were fighting / arguing. Now it is being used to mean that they are in love.
- Sick: It used to be that when you said that something was sick, you were saying it was disgusting. Now it is being used to mean that something is "cool".
With things like this going on, is it any wonder that older people get angry with the way younger people speak?! (And although I am in my 30's, I am placing myself firmly in the older category on this one).

I wonder if he was injured all last season, which is why they lacked sparkle. Wishing him a good recovery. I think Green and Parsons have more to offer.Michael Parsons had knee surgery, so they'll be starting their season late this year. That's probably also the reason they are on the entry list of two later GPs.
In retrospect, Nam Nguyen had a pretty impressive slay list.ok ... i will check for real
I was at SCI 2018 indeed...

In terms of my kids, I have two sets.
Camille KOVALEV / Pavel KOVALEV (FRA) in Pairs in France and China.
Emilea ZINGAS / Vadym KOLESNIK (USA) in Ice Dance in Canada and Finland.
Staying with the Ice Dancers, I had been hoping that Sofía VAL / Asaf KAZIMOV (ESP) would get an assignment. But, alas. That said, you never know, they might still.
I would check where they are in the World Standings, but none of the pages on either version of the ISU Results site are loading. Given the time of year, I would normally say that they are probably getting updated. But, I am not so sure that is the case this year, because there are other problems.
You know the way that the new site (results.isu.org) was secure (https://) and the old site (www.isuresults.com) was unsecure (http://). And because of this, I replaced all the links in my Fan Fests so that they would point to the new site, and started using links to the new site in all my reminder posts.
Well, I noticed a week or so ago that the new site isn't secure any more. Which means that all the links in my posts are now coming up with security warnings when you click them!
The upshot is that both versions of the ISU Results site are well and truly up the creek.
As usual, the ISU have completely messed things up.

Most likely there will be two open spots at SkAm...Chances are there will be four open slots on the Grand Prix due to the penalties given to two Korean senior women.
It is likely that at least one will be at Skate America.
Whom do you suppose USFSA will invite? Will they perhaps do a swap to get a slot for a US pair?
What do you think?
Mikutina trains in US, they could choose her. And do we know if Joos or Pezzetta are doing JGP?Most likely there will be two open spots at SkAm...
My thought is that Sarina Joos would get one of the spots, since she is nr. 2 on the replacement list. But if i´m not mistaken, they can invite anybody from the top 10 replacement list, so it doesn´t mean she is guaranteed one, but given that there will most likely be 4 open spots in the GP, I think she will get one event eventually.
If i´m not mistaken, Minchae Kim is actually first on the replacement list now (Aoki already got a spot at SkAm), due to her bronze at Nebelhorn Trophy last season, so it would be natural that she would get one of the spots to fill in with Korean skater, but I´m not sure if she is really competing anymore. Her last competition was a domestic competition in November where she scored 44 points in the SP and didn´t reach the final....
Looking at the replacement list top 10, Joos and Pezzetta could end up with a spot each if Minchae declines the spot.
If they really don´t care about who is first on the list, Mikutina and Ruiter might get the spots due to popularity. Or they might pick for example Joos and Mikutina (one high on the last and one of popularity). Last season Meite was nr. 10 on the replacement list and Skate Canada gave the spot to her.
1-10
Aoki (SkAm)
M Kim
S Joos
Pezzetta
Pelkonen (Finlandia)
Lin-Gracey
Mikutina

Ruiter (SCI)
I´m wondering when they will update the lists. It´s pretty much confirmed the G/S will do JGP, their coach said that in a interview and confirmed they will do some senior Challengers, but JGP. I also have a feeling there will be more WD.
Could usfsa invite 2 other Korean women skaters farther down on the replacement list? Most likely there will be two open spots at SkAm...

My understanding is that replacements for the main spots need to come from the top ten on the replacement list. I think they would need to go a long way down the list to get another senior Korean skater. Yelim Kim, Chaeyeon Kim and Seoyeong Wi already have two spots at other GP events. Minchae Kim is a fair way down the world rankings and hasn't competed since last Autumn. They could use the TBD host spot for a lower ranked Korean skater, but that would not go down well because the host spots are usually used for skaters from the host country and there are lots of US skaters with the minimum score.Could usfsa invite 2 other Korean women skaters farther down on the replacement list?
Cannot beat last season where you had home nationals and worlds. Did you do a GP too ?Between the women problem, no ability to purchase ticket online, crappy flights, WestJet's surprise strike that throws airline industry in Canada into another spiral and my general apathy toward figure skating right now, I will pass on SkAm. I'll see how it goes next year. This season shapes up to be a downer for me.
She switched to pairs, she officially is in a partnership with Balazs Nagy.8. Audrey Shin - USA 177.14 (will she switch to pairs?)
I love seeing her this high on the list12. Sara-Maude Dupuis - Can 172.45 has one assignment
