Rhythmic Gymnastics

The German seems so tall.... it will create an impressive look.
She's almost 170 cm tall, but also all legs. The Ukrainian coaches would have loved to have her, lol (she has the same look as their preferred gymnast body type).
OMG... this bad romance cover is even worse than the bad original. I wasn't ready for that.
It is terrible - Truly, terrible covers are the one thing connecting all sports with music. 🤣

i wonder how many of these athletes are Russian born ? The names indicate that there are a lot of fed switches like in FS ?

Milena : i loved the beginning ... too bad she had to use other music later on. Great performance though

Only Darja Varfolomeev and Ekaterina Vedeneeva are "properly" Russian-born. (And Vera Tugolukova who performed only in qualifying).

Darja belongs to the so-called "Russia Germans", i.e. the offspring of Germans who emigrated to Russia during the early 1900s and re-immigrated later. She moved to Germany when she turned 12.
I'm not sure what Katya's connection to Slovenia is though.

The vast majority of other gymnasts with Russian-sounding names (and even non-Russian names) have Russian/Eastern European ancestry. Rhythmic gymnastics was a huge thing in the USSR, and many who left took their love for the sport with them to their new home countries.

So that's a little bit with all the Russian names found in US ice dance... :)

I didn't like the Ukrainian as much in the ribbon as some of the others or as I did in her clubs... but what do i know ;)

Dudes, this might be very close between Marga and Sofia at the end. She needs a 31.200.

Sheesh, I'm going to be heartbroken either way 💔 It would be so amazing for Marga to win a medal here, but Sofia deserves it so much too.
