It's just occurred to me how weird the concept of a throw jump is... I mean who came up with this idea? And how did they ask their partner if they were cool with it? "Hey, I just wanna throw you into the air when you do your jump, it's gonna be cool."

SLB used to do pairs before she switched to ID, but the reverse is probably unprecedented?

But if they're doing Austin Powers why is she the one in blue???

Ines & Alejandro ESP do a circus doll program with her dress looking like a queen of hearts. Kinda gives me a creepy vibe. Didn't a Hungarian team use this music in ice dance a year or two ago - he had purple hair maybe? A more technically proficient skate and unusual theme. Very unique.

Eh? James Bond music to start with. What happened the "Soul Bossa Nova"?

Not great synchronicity on the opening jump sequence.

Double Twist Lift better. As was the Double Salchow that followed.

Ach, Zarah fall on Throw Triple Salchow.

Lift that followed was good. And so were the spins.

Right, now we're onto the "Soul Bossa Nova".

The music has got more up-tempo, but they look to be tiring. They both looked to be running out of steam on the lift.

Scratch that. The Throw Double Loop was good!

Zoe looked cheery enough, but the others looked disappointed. Particularly Zarah, who looked like she was going to cry just before the scores were announced.

Into 2nd in both FS and overall.

With the lead they had over the two partnerships behind them after the SP, they will have been hoping to have climbed rather than dropped. But, these things happen.

But, when they look back, it was a good debut for a relatively new partnership. And for somebody that has switched from Ice Dance.

Zara & Alex GBR have really nice costumes. She is especially cute. They are well matched and have a nice look to an Austin Powers theme. Mistakes on the harder elements, but good for them for trying and learning. I look forward to seeing them develop. I hope they do not get discouraged - this is part of the learning process. They have a lot of charm.

Drew Wolfe was an ice dancer, but also did singles... then moved to pairs. I knew Canada wouldn't let me down LOL
