2024-25 Canadian Figure Skating

Looking at the list again, Terry Yu Tao Jin is not on it. So he will not be competing this season it looks like. If Nationals was his last competition, he ended it on a good one.

Robert Brodie interviews Deanna/Max:

That’s why the upcoming season can be seen as an important building block into that Olympic season. “For this season, we really want to have more transition together by keeping the speed. More interpretation to the music, even more,” said Deschamps. “This is a big goal and we have (new) technical elements this year. We have the throw (triple) lutz and changed some lifts. So we did a lot of little changes here and there.”

Okay...this does not sound good.

For those who can't see, Anthony Paradis said that he'd been "electrocuted at the hospital."

Based on the picture, I think he had an ECG taken, so they just measured his heart rate with electricity. Either that or he's been sticking forks in electrical outlets again.

John Kim - 2 events; really?
I was hoping they would give Parker an event instead.
The 4S must have helped, he's the only Junior eligible man attempting a quad right now in competition.

They may give Parker a Junior B, along with other skaters who are on the alternates list. They did that with Fee Ann last season.

I’m surprised Canada has given four of the boys 2 spots. John Kim does have more potential.

I am going to start joking about winning the lottery now.

Denis Ten Memorial assignments:

Men
Aleksa Rakic

Women
Kaiya Ruiter
Uliana Shiryaeva

Ice Dance
Fournier -Beaudry/Soerensen
Hensen/Lickers
Interesting for sure.... West Coast people : makes sense to send the single skaters there ( I know alberta is not west coast LOL)

re the dance teams... a bit confused but it's okay. I think it's good not to send the top 3 Canadian teams in the same events of course so, if they don't want to send any to Italy for obvious reasons, then KAZ makes sense

but yeah... we might see some very high scores :)

Really?? Wow!!
You sensed there was something in the works when you saw Skate Canada had posted this event in the International competition section.

Uliana 👏 (finally)
What about poor Fee Ann?
(I have hope now she will get an assignment)
Kaiya (perfect move. She is making the right choices this season); she could get a high score at this event

More withdrawals. :) This time from Nebelhorn:
Stephen Gogolev
Lajoie/Lagha

Sara-Maude and Maddie and the two pairs teams are still listed, so it's not a case of Canada pulling out all their entries.
Not to forget Roman and Wesley. 😊 Both still listed as well.

Gogolev will probably get a Challenger later if he's able to compete, probably Warsaw or Zagreb. Or he could go to Budapest, but not with Lee Barkell since it overlaps with JGP Wuxi.

Lajoie/Lagha I'm not sure because they could end up qualifying for the Final if they're healthy for their GP spots. Lauriault/Le Gac and Fabbri/Ayer will probably go to Budapest, so they could go there too if they're able to compete.

Fournier-Beaudry/Soerensen are entered into Shanghai Trophy, which is the same time as Denis Ten Memorial. I expect they'll withdraw from Denis Ten Memorial for Shanghai Trophy.

The events page was updated today for the Nebelhorn withdrawals and the changes for JGP Ankara, but they haven't added the entries for the remaining three JGPs or Denis Ten Memorial yet. Anthony mentioned Gdansk in his Instagram post (where he talked about being electrocuted), so I think the skaters who have second assignments and have competed already should be fine.
